There have been discussions in that direction.
I, for one, don't know of such a project. One could, for instance, have a JOS
prototype running on top of Linux or RTEMS. But that's not JOS's mission.

Oh, and it should be JOS, _not_ Java OS. Java OS is Sun's project.
