Agreed. Do you have anyone you would recommend? I have been in a situation before where someone else made board changes and I later wanted to make changes and was literally forced to edit the gerber files as raw artwork and hand edit drill files to makes changes. It was quite ugly. There was not way to take their project files in their board layout package and import them into our tools. As a rule, exchanging schematic capture is much easier to do than board layout files.
