I tend to agree. From what I have seen of US corporate culture, it is 
very different from that in Europe. That said, some of the major 
players in open source are in the US - RedHat, Sun, Novell, not to 
mention the Free Software Foundation itself. The other thing to 
remember is that a lot of open source code is developed in 
universities all over the world so it really is a world wide movement 
-jeux sans frontieres, as the French say.
