As KiCAD runs fine on many platforms, people whose primary job is board design have no problem using e.g. Linux workstations, which may make a lot more sense than using windows. But if users are using windows because they also use other software which is only available for windows, well, the issue is with the other software, not KiCAD. There is no shortage of groups dealing with Linux advocacy, as far as this group is concerned I limited myself to noting that KiCAD is a true multi platform package.
