If you take a look at the "Download" page for the KiCad project on the SourceForge.Net website, you can now download a ZIP file which contains *just* the executable files for more recent Windows versions (and for more recent Linux versions). Right now, you can download the files associated with build number 268 (and the associated ZIP file is 11200425 bytes in size).
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=145591 In that version, the other issue concerning filled circles has not yet been rectified (or at least not AFAIK), but you should still find that postscript files will be much more satisfactory than before.
