Thanks for the help.  I think a setting for minimum zone fill width
would be a great help.

I wound up tracks connected to ground pins and wound it all over and
placed vias where I wanted them.  Then if I have to delete the zone fill
to make a change, I don't have to delete all the vias and remake them!
