I have got frustratingly close, it is clear to me that it should be possible to reduce this to a simple operation using BRL-CAD, but I have no idea what I am doing in that package. I spent a few more hours trying out random combinations but it became clear to me that I would have to sit down and learn 3D modelling with BRL-CAD properly, and I just do not have time for this at the moment, sorry.
