Ahh I see what you are trying to do now... What you really need to do is define a new pad shape so that things like the soldermask etc work out. (I see you have already tried Roberts idea)
I don't think there is a way to actually edit the shape of a pad as such, just choose between the preset shapes. Someone else may have an idea or two regarding that. It's not something I've ever tried to do.
