"reasonably priced" ?? not really. In this context, we need GPL. There's a need for something like this licensed GPL. As a minimum, it should support Kicad and gEDA in a neutral manner. Being able to migrate from (and to) the commercial packages is good too. If the GPL one uses the same neutral format as a commercial product, that's ok. A format isn't really neutral if it is only commercial. I have another idea for netlists, but you are talking symbols here.
