Erm - that's like driving without a safety belt. One of things you should do in a formal checking method such as mine is an Electrical Rules Check (ERC). This is only useful if you have marked your pins correctly. It might be a pain dealing with all those ERC failures, but spending money on a useless piece of scrap is even more painful. In general checking is slow and very boring, which means your mind quickly starts thinking of warm beaches, high mountains, and whatever else turns you on.
