I don't think it's a grid problem.  I did try what you suggested.  I increased the grid to it's highest visible resolution, .005 (5 mils), the the same problem still persists. This image I created the wire from the resistor to the pin 7 on the IC. Here I reversed the creation, from pin 7 to the resistor.
