sa opinion lang nako, lahi man ang goal ngano kailangan tun-an ang calculus and discrete math. calculus is there to help train the students to analyze and reason out. While discrete math is essential for other cs subjects such as database, logic design and switching, and maybe automata. I'm also a cs student and I can say that having a calculus subject really helped me.
