damn small linux or dsl w/c has kernel 2.4 is actually my first candidate
for this particular application. But a harddisk-install yields files
bigger than my 100mb requirement. i tried manually removing most
application but the knoppix image alone still take up most of the
diskspace. somebody suggested i should build from scratch i.e. using lfs
but the new kernel 2.6 is too much for my system and it seems
compatibility in some legacy hardwares has removed. This i cant afford
since i will be running this system on these vintages.

any suggestions?

    hi peeps!

im trying to install the smallest running linux system. no other
application is required only the smallest xwindows available. it
should run in a 486pc with 16mb ram. the entire installation
should not be bigger than 100mb.

so far iv experimented and customized dsl with fluxbox or twm but
i cant seem to get rid of the dsl account. if i do i system gives
out lots of warnings and errors. or maybe i did something wrong?

iv also tried the latest lfs but the kernel is too big for my
harddisk (100mb ra). help please? any suggestions will be
    appreciated?

also, where can i get a copy of fedora core, debian, slackware or
'what have you' as iv yet to expirement on any distro i could get
my hands on w/o the lengthy downloads from d internet. im
thinking maybe i could just burn a copy if any of you is willing
    to share.

    daghan salamat in advance.
