have you taken a glimpse at puppy linux?

if all else fails, you really will need to build linux from scratch to get
the most features that you want at the least overhead.

damn small linux or dsl w/c has kernel 2.4 is actually my first candidate
for this particular application. But a harddisk-install yields files bigger
than my 100mb requirement. i tried manually removing most application but
the knoppix image alone still take up most of the diskspace. somebody
suggested i should build from scratch i.e. using lfs but the new kernel
2.6 is too much for my system and it seems compatibility in some legacy
hardwares has removed. This i cant afford since i will be running this
system on these vintages.

any suggestions?
