I find that obfuscation is the best way to go if you want to be greedy and hide your .js but unless you are very disciplined in your coding convention there's no way you can fully automate obfuscation.
Besides, once it reaches the client side, we still have your complete code, it'll take more processing power to decrypt md5 than unobfuscate your .js code. And I don't see any worthy .js codes to be obfuscated yet, (even the great and well known javascript frameworks' code are out in the open) unless you live in litigation country where every move/code you make can be subject to litigation - unless you're coyping someone's copyrighted code /doing something illegal - then obfuscating is somehow pointless.
