XoftSPY is USELESS. 1. Download and use HijackThis to remove auto-starting apps. 2. Download and install AutoRuns (from Sysinternals) 3. Restart and go into Safe Mode, open up AutoRuns, then look at Winlogon and see what are auto-starting. AutoRuns presents the registry areas also so feel free to browse. 4. Check your registry by opening 'regedit'. Check the areas: - HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run - HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOnce
And look for possible questionable autostarting apps. 5. While in regedit, also check the following areas: - HKEY-CURRENT-USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run - HKEY-CURRENT-USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOnce - HKEY-CURRENT-USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunOnceEx Post your result back here. Use Spybot Search and Destroy to scan and remove malicious apps. It takes a while but it works. Install Spyware Blaster to block erring ActiveX modules, as well as questionable sites. Moral of the story: Do not click on links from unknown user IDs in YM. Also, enable 'ignore PM' in YM. 'private message' popups are good source of buffer overflows in the YM client. That's what we call "booting" in YM booter parlance. It is equivalent to a "denial-of-service" or a "kick" in IRC. Another note: clickable links in YM popups will expose your yahoo account (username and password) and will render your account to hijacking/hacking. How this is done is beyond this post. :) On Dec 19, 2007 6:10 PM, Archangel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > mga guros and sirs. > I need help on my computer.
