i don't think you're supposed to do that. see: http://www.litwindow.com/Knowhow/HowTo/fedora__dsl__1_1.html generally, you don't need to set the IP of eth0. it'll get an IP from the DSL provider. another link i found (that linked back to that one above) said that you should not set gateway (default route) for eth0 nor set DNS servers. although you *could* set DNS servers if you're running bind or a cacheing nameserver locally. but that's an elaboration you should avoid for now. clear (or comment all) your /etc/resolv.conf, make sure there's no IP on eth0 and that there's no default route yet. then run adsl-setup (it used to be called rp-pppoe, i think, back when i was using it) and ifup ppp0. alternatively, if you've got a router that can handle pppoe directly (most wifi routers can do this, or even dialup automatically), then it would be best to have your router do that. less stuff for you to do. you just provide your auth credentials to the router setup program and it'll do all the rest. but if you do that, you'd then need to configure the router to either forward specific ports to your internal server, or put your server on the DMZ. forwarding specific ports is much more secure. tiger _________________________________________________ Kagay-Anon Linux Users' Group (KLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (http://cdo.linux.org.ph) Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
