Basically just read Rasid Sanusi's response. "Dual Core" is a generic term. But Intel has apparently been using fancy (translation: weird) naming to their processors. Since naglibog man pud ko ani sa una sa mga product naming sa mga intel processors katong gusto pa ko mo palit ug new pc/laptop, "dual core" is a limited/strippedown-version of the Core Duo series... most people would say the "Dual Core" processors have less cache.
So when it says "Dual Core Inside" on the sticker, just think of the generic definition and that the processor has PROBABLY less cache and POSSIBLY is not using the new "Core" technology specs. So katong naay stickers with a "Core2", be contented to know that the PC/Laptop manufacturer had selected to use processor/s from a specific Intel product category. Years back there were stickers with just a simple plain "Intel inside". :D Intel was still new and didnt care to put the name or codename or techname of the actual processor in their stickers back then. [OffTopic] And lahi rabaya ni ang mga utok sa una. Naa baya lain meaning ang "intel" sa bisaya. I think it was me, mungkey and dondino who saw a copy of a magazine featuring Intel. ________________________________ From: Ridvan Lakas ng Bayan S. I only received ron michael's reply. I guess this would be a better one, Dual Core vs. Core Duo vs. Core 2 Duo. Sorry for the wrong subject. :) My laptop sticker is Core Duo. I've seen stickers from other laptops/desktops like Dual Core Inside or Core 2 Duo Inside. I'm sure there's a difference between them. Thanks for the links and replies! But if anyone could summarize it in a nutshell, it would be a great information not only for me but for the entire list as well. :) On Wed, Nov 5, 2008 at 12:43 AM, Ron Michael Khu <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: :D Yes another problem with naming and spelling conventions: If only Intel stuck to spelling "Core2" with no space between "Core" and "2" or just the trademark sign "TM" between the two. Anyway, consumers and marketing people would still have to pronounce it separately thereby causing more people to write it down as "Core 2". Add that with the confusion of mixing generic terms and vendor-specific product codes/names. :D Basin naa pud mo ask unsa difference sa "R" and "TM" sa mga PC/laptop stickers :D ------------------------------------ Anyway, Ridvan if you're going to buy a Core 2 laptop or PC. Please refrain from the ones bundled with vista with no downgrade option to XP :D Ma sayang lang ang specs. Lupad na unta kaayo ang core 2 sa mga linux and xp. Oops. sorry sa mga Vista fanatics. ________________________________ From: Don Manganar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Kagay-Anon Linux Users' Group (KLUG) Mailing List <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 4, 2008 6:17:02 PM Subject: Re: [klug] Dual Core vs Core Duo/2 For those who like to have too much info on the subject, here you go... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2 Regards, Don On Tue, Nov 4, 2008 at 9:35 AM, Rasid Sanusi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I thinks there no such thing as Core Duo/2 or if you've seen it in store I will guest that they are saying "Core Duo or Dore 2 Duo".
