sorry, Im no help to you.
but can I ask how you found out what are the
needed libraries for the other editors? Did you
use "ldd" or some other manual way? or
were you able to find some reliable documentation?
I usually just start on ldd and strace and proceed
from there.
$ ldd -r /usr/bin/nano
libncursesw.so.5 => /usr/lib64/libncursesw.so.5 (0x0000003828400000)
libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x0000003827800000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib64/libdl.so.2 (0x0000003827c00000)
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x0000003827400000)

Subject: Re: [klug] Running VI under a chrooted environment (SSH)
@Earl
VI does not actually crash when I try to run it. It just simply won't function
properly. Let say for instance you are under edit mode and you type in the
arrow keys (not the numerical keypad) to navigate. Instead of the normal
navigation function, it will jumble all letters (making it uppercase, etc..)
@Rivdan
Yes, vim-full was installed already before I configure SSH to be chrooted.
Before I have difficulties on running other editors like PICO/NANO but I found
out that there are still libraries to be included such as xterm. So I included
it on the bash script and now it is working properly. I just couldn't find any
information on VI. :(
@Ron Michael

I'm referring on VI not the system.

As to my understanding according to this link
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroot). It actually isolates a certain program
or service to be restricted in a way that that particular user cannot access or
view other users' space or programs on the system, only their own.
As to my experience, I have already chrooted DNS (bind) and SSH (openssh)
So in my case, I have successfully chrooted SSH and loaded needed libraries on
it for certain programs that I allow.
However, I only got a problem with VI. :(
I hope this clear things up..

what do you mean exactly by "difficulties in running it"? what is does
vi do when you run it? does it crash?

There are seven words in this sentence.
