Scholars argue that this is precisely the edge of online Islam. A medium such
as the Internet, by providing equal access to all opinions -- be they with or
against religion, fundamentalist or modernist, aimed at clarifying or
distorting Islam -- in fact affords Islam the opportunity to defend itself.
With the Western media's post-9/11 focus -- conscious or unconscious -- on
the more radical aspects of religion, "the Internet [becomes] an effective way
to portray Islam as a religion in which diversity and debate are encouraged",
says CEO of the mega web site Islamicity.com, Mohammed Aleem.
In fact, up to a quarter of those who use the Internet for news, information
or research are surfing for religious and spiritual material. Abdul-Karim
Bangura, researcher-in-residence at the Center for Global Peace and professor
of Islamic Studies and International Relations, estimates that of those nearly
28 million people in the United States, for instance, "23 per cent [are]
specifically searching for information about Islam".
Ghada Salem, business development officer at Islamonline.net told Al-Ahram
Weekly that, "Islamonline used to register 24 million page views a year. After
9/11, the page views hit 150 million a year." Salem explained that Islamonline
was aware of its potential role in bridging the communication gap between the
West and Islam. "We added content, in English, explaining even the most basic
tenets of the religion, and have, in the process, helped many understand the
difference between ' jihad' [struggle] and ' irhab' [terror]," Salem Said"

Response to negative press
Muhammad Sayid Tantawy, the current Imam of Al-Azhar, has declared that the
perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks and suicide bombers are "heretics" who are not
following the true path of Islam. In a recent conference in Indonesia, he asked
all "true believers" to deny speakers of extremist and heretical forms of Islam
places to speak in the mosque, thus preventing the spread of violent
ideologies. Ali Gomaa', the Egyptian Mufti associated with Al Azhar, has also
declared that insurgents who kidnap and kill civilans in Iraq are the ones
which Islam has authorized to thwart and eradicate since they wreak havoc on
Earth.
However, Shaykh Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, goes well beyond the scope of
culture by putting among the priorities of the followers of Islam "to master
all knowledge of the world and the hereafter, not least the technology of
modern weapons to strengthen and defend the community and faith". He adds that
"Mastery over modern weaponry is important to prepare for any eventuality or
prejudices of the others, although Islam is a religion of peace ."

Nothing new
According to press reports, the Azhar university in Cairo, Egypt has issued a
fatwa (sic) declaring the permissibility of fixed interest. o­ne such
report says:
"Islams highest authority, the Al-Azhar Institute in Cairo, has given a
green light to fixed banking interest in Egypt."
"Sabar Talaab, the head of the secretariat, said o­n Sunday that
Al-Azhars Islamic theological research committee had reached the verdict
o­n October 31."
"Religious jurisprudence means change and it is illogical to remain frozen
while the world changes around us," said Talaab."
While the shayaateen masquerading as Muslims make such comments and
legalize what Allah has made Haraam, the Quraan Majeed unequivocally
declares:
"Those who devour interest do not stand except as stands o­ne who has
been driven to madness by the touch of shaitaan. That (madness of theirs) is
because they say: Certainly, trade is like Ribaa.
But Allah has made lawful trade and has made haraam ribaa."
"O People of Imaan! Fear Allah! And shun what remains of ribaa if indeed you
are Mumineen. And, if you do not do so, then take notice of war from Allah And
His Rasool
."

NOTHING NEW
The attempt to make interest halaal is nothing new. The enemies of Islam and
zindeeqs, especially in this age of anti-Taqleediism, have and are always
subjecting the Shariah to personal opinion. The sinister motive of all these
zindeeqs the latest example being the MPL crowd is material gainmonetary
gain worldly acclaim, etc. They perceive the Shariah as a huge impediment in
the path of progress progress in the conception of western ideology. It has
therefore become expedient and necessary for the zindeeqs to make haraam things
lawful, left, right and centre.
In this regard, we believe Yusuf Ali was the first zindeeq who had made an
abortive attempt to differentiate between bank interest and the Islamic meaning
of ribaa. Excluding bank interest from Ribaa, Yusuf Ali states in his baatil
commentary o­n the Quraan:
"My definition (of ribaa) would
.exclude economic credit, the creature of
modern banking and finance."
The zindeeq stated his opinion in a bid to legalize interest some 70 years
ago. Therefore, the fatwa of Al-Azhar is old-hat.
KUFR
The claim that Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) means change is utterly baseless
and has to be dismissed with contempt. The suggestion that the laws of the
Shariah are frozen in a changing world is downright kufr. Talab, the
spokesman of Al-Azhar implies that the Shariah of Islam has become obsolete
hence the need for change and re-interpretation to make it compatible with
western economic theories and practices. He has implied that what the Quraan
taught fourteen centuries ago cannot be applied in this modern day of western
advancement. He implies that the Quraan and the Sunnahthe Shariah of
Islamhave outlived their utility. This leads to the kufr of the need of a new
Nabi with a new Shariah. The implication of the rejection of the Finality of
the Nubuwwat of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) is glaring.
Just as the Quraan denounced and rejected the mushrikeens attempt to equate
trade with ribaa, so too does it reject Al-Azhars attempt. Al-Azhar has merely
gorged out what the mushrikeen of Arabia had said fourteen centuries ago,
namely, "Trade is like Ribaa". The modernist zindeeqs such as the committee of
Al-Azhar contend:
"
.such practices (economic credit) amount to commercial dealings undertaken
by a bank in the name of its clients. They also draw a parallel with the
commercial profits made from the caravans which the prophet Muhammad led almost
1400 years ago after buying goods with money collected from members of his
tribe."
But the Quraan emphatically rejects both the mushrikeen of 1400 years ago
and the zindeeqs of Al-Azhar. Thus the Quraan Majeed declares:
"And Allah has made lawful trade and made unlawful ribaa."
NO VATICAN
The western media in designating Al-Azhar as the "highest authority" of Islam
has sought to confer Vatican status to this Institution which has fallen into
the dregs of kufr and baatil. In Islam there is no parallel with the Vatican.
Al-Azhar even in its heyday when it was a truly Islamic Madrasah from whose
portals walked innumerable great Ulama and Auliya, never was the "highest
authority" of Islam. Al-Azhar to Muslims is NOT what the Vatican is to
Christians. Al-Azhar in the present age is a non-entity in so far as the
Shariah is concerned. It holds no status in the ranks of the Ulama. It is an
un-Islamic centre conspiring the destruction of Islam. It is an appendage of
the kuffaar government of Egypt. Al-Azhar enjoys no credibility among the true
Ulama of Islam.
FATWAS
The fatwas emanating from Al-Azhars Committee of Zindeeqs are pieces of
scrap not worth the paper o­n which they are written. The crowd of zindeeqs
who seek to render halaal what Allah has made haraam, is trying to capitalise
o­n the past image of that o­nce august Institution of Islam. But since
these zindeeqs are "driven to insanity by the touch of shaitaan", they will not
succeed in their plot to hoodwink the Ummah with their fatwas of baatil and
kufr churned out purely for worldly reasons and to appease the kuffaar
authorities who happen to hold sway in Egypt.
Bank interest is not different from the Ribaa prohibited by the Quraan
Majeed. Bank interest is not profit as the zindeeqs are propagating. No
Muslim who possesses even a smattering of Islamic understanding will swallow
the kufr drivel of bank interest being commercial profit.

Sheikh of Al-Azhar: Suicide Operations are Legitimate Defence? Broadcasted on

The Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr. Mohamed Sayyed Tantawi, said that the
fact that Palestinians are forced into suicide bombing confirms the gravity of
the injustice inflicted on them.
He asked: "What can a man do when injustice becomes heavy and he finds none
to ward it off from him? In that case he is forced into legitimate defence of
soul, honour and land."Replying to a question from Al-Hayat on the demand by
some Israeli rabbis that the Sheikh of Al-Azhar and Islamic religious scholars
intervene to stop the explosions in Israeli cities, the Sheikh held some Jewish
clerics responsible for what is going on because they incite to wronging the
Palestinians.
He pointed out that in view of this, he has "no option but to urge our
brothers in Palestine to defend themselves, their rights, their land and their
honour. I tell them: Defend all these in the legitimate means accepted by Islam
and noble ethics without aggression or wronging anybody."The Sheikh of Al-Azhar
said that divine laws do not approve the killing of Children, old people and
peaceful citizens, but he considered those who carry out the suicide operations
to be "in a state of legitimate self-defence against those who attack them and
do not show mercy to old people, children, or women."Replying to a question on
the view of Islam on those who explode or blow themselves up, Tantawi said:
"Those who say that this act is haram [forbidden by the Sharia] should first
ask what motivated it. Why must young people sacrifice themselves? What can we
expect from the Palestinians when the Israeli premier repeats with every new
dawn that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel
which is something that no reason or religion or law can accept? Injustice
breeds an explosion and a person who is severely wronged may sacrifice himself.
Honourable people prefer to die than to live in humiliation."On the Israeli
accusation that Egyptian religious officials encourage Palestinians to be
violent and thus lead up to a religious war, Tantawi said, "I tell them you are
the cause of all that is happening. When land is usurped and injustice
intensified, fury spreads and explosions happen in self-defence. I also see
Jewish rabbis inciting to injustice.
Shall I then stand silent? I tell the Palestinians: Defend your land and your
sanctities through legitimate means. I say to the Jewish rabbis: Speak the
truth and demand that your government abide by justice and refrain from racism
and bigotry. The divine religions were revealed by God for the happiness of
humanity. They preach peace and security and the handing of rights to the
deserving parties. They abhor injustice, terrorism and the destruction of life"

AZHAR
Academics will have online access to about 125,000 books once the project is
completed. About 9000 of the books are the only known copies available, said Al
Azhar's chief librarian, Mohammed Shawqi Subki.
"Our aim is to reach out to those academics who want to learn and study Islam
from its real sources," said Subki.

The website, expected to be complete by June next year, will include about
42,000 manuscripts. The $US5 million project is financed by the crown prince of
Dubai.
Abdellah Al Karam, a representative to the Dubai leader, said about 300,000
pages of manuscripts had been scanned at a rate of 4000 pages a day. He said
once it was completed the project would have direct electronic links with other
world universities.
"This marks a new beginning for Al Azhar, which is leaping into the
information age and taking the past into the present," said Al Karam.
One of the most important manuscripts to be shown is What is Strange in
Hadith, a book about the Prophet Muhammad's sayings written about 1000 years
ago by Ibn Salam, a renowned scholar of the time.
The Fatimids - Shias who invaded Egypt from Tunisia - founded Al Azhar during
their 10th and 11th century rule of Egypt. Later it became the Sunni world's
most prestigious seat of learning.
The mosque drew scholars from across the Muslim world and grew into a
university, predating similar developments at Oxford University in London by
more than a century.

Barangsiapa tersibukkan waktunya dengan Qur'an, dan ingat persoalanKU, Aku
kurniai dia dengan yang lebih utama daripada apa yang pernah diberikan kpd para
peminta.
Perbandingan utamanya kalamullah dengan seluruh kalam yang lain, adalah
perbandingan antara Pencipta dgn mahluk yg dicipta.
MAN QAMA BI A'SYRI AYATIN LAM YUKTAB MIN AL GHAFILINA, WA MAN QAMA BI MIA'TI
AYATIN KUTIBA MIN AL QANITINA, WA MAN QAMA BI A'LFI AYATIN KUTIBA MIN AL

takdirkan kepatuhannya (kpd perintah / hanya menyembah kpd Allah) , siapa yg
tekun dengan 1000 ayat, dia akan ditakdirkan dgn kekayaan berlimpah.
Note : Qura'n harus dibaca dgn bertajwid yg fasih.
Salah satu contoh tentang unique-nya bhs Sabda, ketika tidak memperhatikan
tajiwd fasih baca, sehingga menyebabkan artinya berubah (ie TA dan THA)
misalnya:
Ada kata Qanata dan ada Qanatha (1.Ta ; 2. Tha), 1st : artinya Patuh penuh.
ie doa qunut (Qu - t) ; 2nd : artinya putus asa. (41;49) wa in massahus syarru
fa yau'sun qanuth (qa - th).bila tertimpa mala petaka, maka putus asa dan
hilang harapan.
Hadist Abdullah bin Umar r.a. Puasa dan Qur'n, keduanya memberi syafa't kpd
hamba pada hari Kiamat. Puasa berkata Ya Rabb aku telah mencegah dia dari makan
dan mencegah syahwatnya disiang hari, berilah aku syafaat utk dia. Qura'n pun
berkata, aku telah mencegahnya dia dari tidur malam, maka berilah aku syafaat
utk dia. (riwayat Ahmad, Muslim & Nasai').
Hadist ibn Abbas r.a. : Kanan nabiyyu Shallallahu alaihi wasallama ajwada bil
khairi, wa kana ajwadu ma yakunu fi ramadlan hina yalqahu jibril. (ajwada bil
khairi minar rihil mursalah)
Rasulullah (saw) tergolong orang yg lapang dada sangat pemurah dan terbuka
lebar berbuat kebaikan, dan kelapangn ini, atau kesigapannya kpd kebaikan ini
memuncak ketika bertemu dgn malaikat Jibril pada bulan Ramadlan, melebihi
kecepatan tiupan angin.
Hadist Al Turmudzi, dari Salman Al Farisi radliyallu anhum, bahwa Rasulullah
shallallahu alaihi wasallam bersabda: Sesungguhnya Allah maha hidup, maha
pemurah, malu bila ada orang yang mengangkat tangan kepadaNya (brdoa), ditolak
dgn tangan hampa kecewa.
Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa a'fu anna ya Rabb.
