Role: *Oracle Developer with extensive financial services experience* Location: New York, NY Duration: 6+ months Rate: $ DOE /Hr C2C Interview: Immediate (Telephonic) # of Positions: 1 Start Date: Immediate Client: Financial *Education Required:* University Degree *Preferred:*** *Computer Science Skills* - Aptitude Required Problem Management (investigation, diagnostics, and escalation) Investment banking products knowledge ( Equities) Good communication skills Customer focus - Able to deliver a first class service Versatile - able to multi task and give 100% to tasks assigned Team Player - Must fit within a professional team Self starter - Able to manage own deliverables with little supervision Applicant must meet ALL of these requirements. *Description: * · Department Overview Clearing, Custody and Settlements IT (Prime) maintains and enhance the Firm’s Prime Services offerings across equities, fixed income and futures. · The FISS application is barCap’s international settlement system interfacing with SWIFT, Euroclear, Clearstream, Crest and multiple other systems. · FISS is the Firm’s primary securities settlement and accounting system, settling in excess of 50% of the Firm’s transactions. · The main functions of the system are: Trade Enrichment, Settlement Netting, Clearing/Settlement, Position Management, Profit & Loss, Coupon Processing, Borrow/Loan & Repo Processing, Sub Ledger/ Trial Balance. · Products transacted through FISS include Bonds, Equities, Warrants, Commercial Paper, and Certificates of Deposit. · The 20+ Fixed Income Operations IT personnel analyse, develop, test, and deploy major and minor change requests for these interfaces and systems. · FISS was purchased as a package, RIMS, in 1995 and has since been enhanced internally to meet the requirements of the business. · The system is an Oracle database running on a Solaris UNIX platform and utilizes C, Pro*C, Oracle SQL, Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Report Writer 6.0. · The user interface is composed of Oracle Forms, VB and C#, but a current project will standardise the interface on C#. · The vacancy is within the New York team supporting projects pertaining to the Equity Build Out programme. · The ideal individual will have solid technical skills as well as aptitude and zeal to learn the business as it pertains to middle office, operations, settlement, and downstream processing. · The FISS settlement system is an extremely complex system as it takes feeds from over 20 different front office systems and sends data externally to regulators, exchanges, depots and agents, and internally over 500 file extracts are delivered daily to other systems. · The scope for learning many different aspects of settlement, accounting, position keeping, and messaging for the fixed income and equity business is huge.
