Role: Technical Specialist Duration: 6+months Location: New York The new web-based, workflow-enabled system will integrate DOT permits and other work entities with City's standard GIS map, and will replace a legacy mainframe-based permitting system. Required Skills: a.. BA/BS Degree or equivalent, in a technology related field or other degree preferred. b.. 6-8 years experience in designing, developing and specifying mission critical business applications, at least 3 of which is in a web/client-server environment. c.. Experience in all phases of SDLC and standard SDLC methodologies such as Waterfall, RUP, Agile to deliver client solutions. d.. Having worked with projects involving Microsoft.NET and SQL Server technologies for web and desktop application development. e.. 8 years of total experience in object oriented business application design and development. f.. 5+ years of solid .NET development using C#. NET, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, WPF, WCF,Visual Studio 2005/2008. g.. 5+ years of relation database design, normalization, T-SQL, stored procedures, SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, DTS/SSIS packages, data modeling tools (ERwin/ERStudio). h.. 3+ years of SQL Reporting Services (or Crystal Reports), Ad-hoc reporting, Dashboards. i.. 5+ years of exposure in using configuration management, version control, testing tools. j.. Experience in UML/Rational tools or other design tools. k.. Experience using Microsoft Office Applications. DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE a.. Microsoft Certified Professional (MCSD/MCAD/MCTS/MCPD) b.. Have development knowledge on Microsoft SharePoint/MOSS, Silverlight, MVC Framework, and/or Adobe Flex. c.. Working knowledge in UML, Design Patterns, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence. d.. Experience in GIS tools and map integration (ESRI ArcGIS/Google/Bing/OpenGIS) e.. Experience in Wireless/Disconnected architecture/applications. f.. Experience in online payment implementation. g.. Application design expertise with large permit management systems. h.. Exposure to Open Source technology stacks (LAMP, Ruby on Rails etc.). i.. Working knowledge in Business Intelligence and Decision Support Systems. j.. Prior experience in federal/state/local government projects.
