I have eight new .NET web developer positions for Massachusetts (Boston) area.  
Local candidates are preferred.  The client is looking for a rate of $40 per 
hour.  

Duties:

This position requires web development with specific expertise in the .Net 2.0 
framework. The web developer will work in a team environment to develop, 
maintain and support mission critical systems providing a range of web based 
services. The web developer will partner with business unit clients and team 
members to resolve business issues in a timely and efficient manner. This 
position requires expertise in the use of current web-related technologies such 
as ASP.NET, IIS, SQL, Crystal Reports and JAVA Script as well as creativity and 
excellent communication skills. The web developer will be required to 
successfully complete all assigned tasks, gain a complete understanding of each 
overall project and business application, and to remain current with the latest 
technologies and industry/business trends. This position requires occasional 
work outside during standard business hours and may be periodically on stand-by 
status.

 

Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, test, implement, document and maintain technologies such as .Net and 
PL/SQL applications in the DUA web environment.

Use Microsoft .NET application development tools, such as Visual Studio, C# and 
ASP .Net or other agency approved tools to develop new Client/Server or Browser 
based systems according to user specifications and IS standards.

Create unit and systems test plans for assigned projects.

Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test 
witnessing and certification of software.

Assist with mentoring Web Development Teams with relevant skills required to 
meet the client's needs.

Work with cross-functional participants to translate customer needs and 
technology directions into application definitions, including user groups, 
network service teams, IT development groups and technology vendors to maximize 
opportunities in agency's Web-based presence.

Troubleshoot issues, identify and implement resolutions and work with technical 
and business staff to ensure timely deployment. 

Complete assigned tasks in an organized and efficient manner.

Develop workload estimates, and project schedules in order to complete projects 
on schedule and as requested by the user.

Conform to project documentation and programming standards.

Proactively communicate progress and intentions to Project Manager.

Prepare project plans, progress reports and reports on issues. These reports 
often are needed by IS or user management. 

Prepare weekly time sheets on a timely and consistent basis.

Monitor assigned project progress, provide status reports, and report project 
problems to lead analyst or project leader.

Create detail technical design specifications for projects from user functional 
specifications including required data, element sizes, edit criteria, data 
dictionary (if applicable), data access methods and program and system 
flowcharts. These technical design specifications should be detailed enough for 
other programmer/analysts to code from.

Perform complex analysis and design for user requests/specifications.

Perform tasks as assigned for processing data on Relational databases (Oracle, 
Microsoft SQL Server)

Coordinate work of other programmer analyst, or users assigned to project.

Modify existing applications for software updates, or user requests by 
analyzing systems to determine the appropriate changes.

Prepare program and system documentation for users, scheduling control and 
operations for proper execution of production or test jobs. Documentation must 
be accepted during documentation turnover process.

Work with computer operations and/or users to resolve productions problems as 
required. This may require returning to work site or accepting phone calls 
after normal scheduled work hours to resolve issues.

Attend training, as required, to support assigned systems. Training may be 
in-house or offsite.

Work with vendors, IT technical staff, and other application development groups 
to provide technical information and instructions for supported systems.

Support assigned production system failures/issues on a timely basis and 
document corrective action.

Participate in investigation and feasibility study of new technology; 
participates in planning of new technology.

Special Duties and Requirements: 

May be required to engage in occasional travel to attend training, conferences 
or report to other work locations. 

Must be willing and able to work other than normal work hours in an emergency 
to test new software, resolve critical system problems and/or perform 
production system maintenance. 

Must be willing and able to periodically serve on stand-by duty when deemed 
necessary by management.

Must be willing and able to occasionally respond to telephone calls (or other 
means of communications) received when off-duty to support systems questions or 
resolve production problems. 

Ability to quickly come up to speed in a timely manner on new applications and 
technologies.

Qualifications Required:

Experience developing and/or maintaining applications in the Microsoft .Net 2.0 
framework.

Proficient in .NET and ASP web development including Com Objects, Web Services, 
C#, Java and VB Scripting, XML, Forms, and ODBC with Oracle.

Working knowledge of SQL and relational data bases; ODBC, Oracle 8i/9i, SQL, 
PL/SQL. 

Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Windows development environment/architecture, 
especially as it pertains to Web development.

Experience with Crystal Reports, Crystal Reports.Net C#, .NET, Visual Studio, 
IIS, VB, Java Scripting, HTML, XML, Oracle and P/L SQL.

Proficiency with object oriented design and programming techniques.

Familiarity with defect management software, source code management software, 
Visio, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong understanding of the Microsoft IIS architecture.

Knowledge of PC environment, especially Windows 2000/XP, Office 200X/XP.

Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio 200X and Microsoft Visual SourceSafe.

Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio.

In depth knowledge of systems analyst and design techniques.

Skill in interpersonal communications with management, staff and users.

Excellent written communications for developing design specifications, project 
plans, test plans, and documentation (user, program, and implementation).

Ability to analyze software problems and issues in order to determine a 
solution.

Ability to engineer software solutions that integrates with multiple vendor 
software solutions and products.

Ability to implement vendor solutions from vendor documentation or 
correspondence.
