Senior Software Engineer - Back End
The Senior Back End Software Engineer is responsible for the design and
implementation of the user interface for our social/local service. We make
extensive use of Javascript and AJAX, XHTML and CSS. You must be expert with
of these technologies. You will be required to work collaboratively with other
engineers, QA, Product Managers and Engineering Management.
Experience
Typically candidates will have 5 to 10 years experience developing web
applications professionally. The focus of this position is backend
engineering, so knowledge and experience in that area is absolutely essential.
Candidates should be comfortable with the challenges of a startup atmosphere,
self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Required Skills
All of the following skills are required for consideration:
Minimum of 5 years commercial software engineering
Professional experience with Javascript, in particular using JQuery
and developing custom widgets using Javascript and JQuery libraries.
Solid experience with XHTML + CSS and support for multiple browsers
Object-oriented design
Experience with LAMP configuration and management
Experience with web MVC
Familiarity with PHP-based view templates
The backend will be moving from PHP to Ruby On Rails
Must have extensive experience with Ruby On Rails
Ruby On Rails
PHP development
Experience with CodeIgniter MVC framework
Experience with other dynamic languages like Ruby and Python
Education
Minimum of BS in Computer Science
