You can turn on alerts to show you patrons with fines/holds/etc when checking
in items, but it would be nice if those preferences had a third option. right
now you have on and off - but it would be nice to have 'on when not in dropbox
mode' so that you don't have those alerts when checking in a bunch of books
without patrons there, but do see them when checking items in throughout the
day when patrons might be there.
