Avery Campbell (Butte County Library (CA)) <[email protected]> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[email protected] | |v --- Comment #1 from Avery Campbell (Butte County Library (CA)) <[email protected]> --- Thanks! This came up here because we noticed that it deletes the message from the OPAC when patrons read it (and there is a trach can icon on that button), but on the staff interface, they are marked as read, but we only see that if we run a report or view the patron's account. One thing I can see is libraries wanting to keep the read messages for a certain time in case the patron contacts about it or if they need it for reporting purposes. Maybe there should be a syspref that sets a threshold of how long they should be kept before auto deleting. I can also now see that some libraries may want to keep some messages there that are related to damaged or missing items. It's good to know the patron read the message, but we'll want to keep the message so that staff know why the item is still on their account. Not sure of the best compromise -- maybe a way to link a message to a barcode so that when the barcode is no longer checked out, the message is deleted? Or a third message category that doesn't delete on OPAC and staff interface after reading? Just throwing out ideas. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
