After a bit of back and forth, I believe Mr. Hartman discovered a bug (or at least a limitation) in the patron update script.

I went ahead and filed bug 6870 on his behalf, and submitted a patch for it that may help with his issue. Woohoo!

Are these messages patron update emails? I wonder if you're testing the patron update notification with an account that has the same email address as your admin user, thus it *looks* like the to and from are the same. What's really happening, I think (totally not sure! At all!) is that it's sending the notice FROM the patron's user entered address, TO the koha admin email, which happen to be the same.

Plausible?

It looks like koha is using the admin address (KohaAdminEmailAddress) for both.
 
I am wondering if there is a configuration setting we are missing.
