Hi Katryn,

They are not schools, so I don't know if this is relevant, but we have two projects where independent organizations share one Koha installation. We also support schools using Koha, but they are either school councils (where they share one Koha for the council) or private schools (where they each have their own Koha), not independent schools using the same Koha.

We offer something like this for very small municipalities (population under 5000). We had to do some development, especially around system preferences, because there are some things that I consider to be policies that can be specific for each library (like maxfine, noissuescharge, etc.). We also blocked the more "advanced" Koha modules (Serials, Acquisitions, Administration, etc.). They each have their own OPAC and the patrons can only search their library's collection. In the Intranet, library staff and volunteers can see the other libraries' collections. This helps for cataloguing. They do not however have access to the other libraries' patrons, of course.

We have two libraries running in production on this system and another one will be added in September.

We also have a Koha installation that is shared by two (soon to be three also) genealogy societies. In this case, they also each have their own OPAC, but the patrons can see the other collections. This is something they agreed on at the beginning of the project. These institutions do not loan out materials, so the need for specific sysprefs, and hiding patron information form one another was not necessary.

Regards,

Caroline

Hi everyone,

I hope you're having a good week so far.

I would love to hear about any examples where multiple schools share a Koha
instance or some other arrangement to work together using Koha. Many thanks to
anyone that could take a moment to share
their example.

Best wishes,
Kathryn
