Neo-Con Agenda: Iran, China, Russia, Latin America ...

Jim Lobe

WASHINGTON, Nov 5 (IPS) - An influential foreign-policy neo-conservative
with longstanding ties to top hawks in the administration of President
George W Bush has laid out what he calls ''a checklist of the work the
world will demand of this president and his subordinates in a second
term.''

The list, which begins with the destruction of Fallujah in Iraq and ends
with the development of ''appropriate strategies'' for dealing with
threats posed by China, Russia and ''the emergence of a number of
aggressively anti-American regimes in Latin America,'' also calls for
''regime change'' in Iran and North Korea.

Religious, Clannish Fallujah Symbol of Resistance

Samir Hadad, IOL Correspondent

BAGHDAD, November 7 (IslamOnline.net) - As American and Iraqi troops are
gearing up for storming restive Fallujah, the city's religious and
clannish character stand as an invincible bastion for the invading troops.

The clans character with its machismo, bravery and daring initiatives
and an exemplary religious harmony are, in effect, the key words for
months of unabated resistance of the US occupation troops.

Marines turn to God ahead of anticipated Fallujah battle

AFP

NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq, Nov 6 (AFP) - With US forces massing outside
Fallujah, 35 marines swayed to Christian rock music and asked Jesus
Christ to protect them in what could be the biggest battle since
American troops invaded Iraq last year.

Men with buzzcuts and clad in their camouflage waved their hands in the
air, M-16 assault rifles laying beside them, and chanted heavy
metal-flavoured lyrics in praise of Christ late Friday in a yellow-brick
chapel.

China Backs Iran Amid Difficult Talks With EU

Arab News, Agence France Presse EUR Reuters

TEHRAN, 7 November 2004 <

Hypocrisy in international relations silences the US-EU governments from
mentioning Israel and its arsenal of nuclear weapons. Instead, they focus on
preventing Islamic countries to develop nuclear energy even for peaceful
purposes, like the case of Iran. The objective is keeping Israel as the only
power with nuclear weapons in the Middle East, in order to maintain its
hegemony on the oil-rich region.

in Iraq when he heard an order: "Grab him by the neck."

Hernandez said he paused, positioned himself over the man's head, then
took him by the neck and dragged him 15 or so feet to another holding

Fallujah and the Reality of War

The assault on Fallujah has started. It is being sold as liberation
of the people of Fallujah; it is being sold as a necessary step to
implementing "democracy" in Iraq. These are lies.
I was in Fallujah during the siege in April, and I want to paint for
you a word picture of what such an assault means.

INN Theory & Background: Quotes from Michel Aflaq on Imperialism and
    Zionism

/Inn statements, *Michel Aflaq / Al Moharer Net*, 2004-11-07/
Quotes from Michel Aflaq:

On Imperialism and Zionism

It is inevitable for the Arab governments to befriend the imperialist
countries without love for them. This is because those governments are
faced with two choices: either combat the imperialist countries in a
serious way and be forced to mobilize all the potential of the people
and lift from their way all that hampers their activity and progress. By
doing this, such governments will have no room to exploit and oppress
the people. The other choice is to continue exploiting the people and
lose their support in resisting the imperialist countries.

Militants used grenade attacks to lure Black Watch into deadly trap
==============================================
By Kim Sengupta in Baghdad and Richard Lloyd Parry in Camp Dogwood, Iraq
Published : 05 November 2004 - The Times

The attack was carried out with deadly thoroughness, and took planning that
illustrated the depth of the militants' information. The soldiers from the
Black Watch had ventured on to the east bank of the Euphrates, outside their
original area of operation. But somehow the insurgents knew they were
coming, and were waiting.

As dawn breaks, the Black Watch begins fightback
==================================
RICHARD LLOYD PARRY IN CAMP DOGWOOD

IN THE early hours of yesterday, guided only by the night vision goggles
strapped to their helmets, a company of Black Watch soldiers walked silently
through the desert hoping for a small success story at the end of a grim
week.

Their objective was a group of houses on the west side of the Euphrates
where, according to intelligence reports, heavy guns and other weapons were
being stored.

A Bridge Across Tears For Iraq
A Statement of Solidarity in Suffering

To the People of the World who profit from our tears
To the People of the World who care not of our tears
To the People of the World who know not of our tears
To the People of the World who live also with our tears

We speak to you, in whispers and in screams; in despair and in hope; in
defeat and in struggle; to reclaim our humanity.
With the violated people of Iraq, we stand in solidarity, our arms
joined in this bridge across tears.
