INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "CONSEQUENCES OF
THE
NATO AGGRESSION AGAINST YUGOSLAVIA"
BELGRADE, March 24 (Tanjug) - A three-day International Conference
"Consequences of the NATO aggression against Yugoslavia" started in
Belgrade's conference center Sava on Friday.
More than 100 participants from all over the world will present
analyses
and estimates of the last year's aggression by 19 NATO countries on
Yugoslavia (March 24 - June 10), from the legal, geopolitical
and media
points of view.
Those who take part in the conference, represent the world
conscience
and its highest humanitarian values, Yugoslav Foreign Minister
Zivadin
Jovanovic said in his opening address.
The people in this conference hall, in the heart of free-minded
Belgrade
expect new encouragement and inspiration for a better future,
Jovanovic
said.

RISTIC THANKED RUSSIAN DUMA
BELGRADE, March 24 (Tanjug) - Vice President of the Russian Duma
and Liberal-Democratic Party President Vladimir Zhirinovsky and a
group of Duma MP's visited Yugoslav Parliament on Thursday for talks
with Chamber of Citizens Foreign Relations Committee President
Ljubisa Ristic.
On behalf of the Yugoslav Parliament, Ristic expressed
gratitude for the
Duma's statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the
onset of the
NATO aggression on Yugoslavia.
In its statement, the Duma reiterated its disapproval of the
aggression
and denounced the violation of the U.N. Resolution 1244, which
is the
only basis for renewing peace and security in the Yugoslav
Kosovo and
Metohija autonomous province, and creates important
preconditions for
restoring stability in the region.

YUGOSLAVIA IS SUCCESSFULLY RECONSTRUCTING
WITH OWN ITS FORCES
BELGRADE, March 24 (Tanjug) - Within the start of reconstruction and
repairs of objects destroyed by NATO in last year's almost
three-month
(March-June) aggression on Yugoslavia, the Directorate for National
Reconstruction opened 179 construction sites by March 10 this year.
The projects include 55 objects of road and 19 railway
infrastructure, as
well as 105 buildings.
During this time, 31 road bridges and four railway bridges were
inaugurated, as well as five road bypasses, two roads, 457 housing
units, and 162 residential objects were repaired. This provided
homes
for 520 families.
The completed projects include four central heating plants, seven
schools and five medical centers, two farms and 14 other public
objects.
Work is under way on 72 construction sites, including 17 objects of
road and 14 of railway infrastructure, as well as 41 buildings.
The road infrastructure objects include 14 bridges, two roads
and one
highway, and work on railway objects includes 12 bridges, one
tunnel,
and one railway building.
The 41 building construction sites include 13 for 195
residential units,
and 338 objects are being repaired in 11 towns for minor
damages, five
schools and 12 other public objects.
