Protests against the World Bank/IMF meetings got an early start Thursday morning when activists unfurled a massive forty foot banner from the roof of the Hamilton Park Conference Center in Florham Park, New Jersey as delegates arrived for the plenary. The forty foot banner depicts two bloody corporate hands squeezing the life out of the global south with the caption "World Bank and IMF = Corporate Colonialism." As the banner was unfurled hundreds of local and federal law enforcement officers stood helplessly below. This direct action, the around the clock vigil and the large rally planned for Saturday are a continuation of last November's massive nonviolent protests that shut down the World Trade Organization meeting in Seattle and a precurser to the convergence planned for April 9 through April 17 in Washington, DC to shut down the semi-annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
