> BOZOVIC SEEKS DUE IMPLEMENTATION OF U.N. RESOLUTION 1244
>
> PARIS, April 2 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav Parliament Chamber of Republics
>President and head of the Yugoslav group of the Interparliamentary Union Srdja
>Bozovic, who heads the Yugoslav parliamentary delegation to the 3rd
>Interparliamentary Conference on Security and Cooperation in the Mediterranean
>underway in Marseilles, on Saturday urged participants to voice unconditional
>support for the due implementation of United Nations Security Council
>Resolution 1244.
>
> In a speech at the plenary session, Bozovic underscored that the
>conference was underway at the time of the anniversary of the onset of the
>NATO aggression on Yugoslavia. This was an anticivilizational act,
>unprecedented in modern European history, he said.
>
> Yugoslavia was the victim of a brutal experiment whose main
>objective was to legalize a new doctrine of interventionism, the violation of
>principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and the rights
>of citizens and peoples to live in a state according to their own ideas and
>interests, he said.
>
> The misfortune which Yugoslavia suffered could tomorrow be thrust
>upon some other nation or state in the Mediterranean or in some other corner
>of the world, he said.
>
> Can one speak of the Mediterranean as an oasis of peace and
>security when foreign military troops and the so-called civilian mission are
>grossly violating U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244 on Kosovo and Metohija
>in the territory of that Serbian province in the state of Yugoslavia, a member
>of the United Nations and the Interparliamentary Union, Bozovic asked.
>
> DACIC: DEVASTATING EFFECTS OF AGGRESSION AND SANCTIONS AGAINST
>YUGOSLAVIA
>
> PARIS, April 2 (Tanjug) - Federal Parliament MP Ivica Dacic, a
>member of the Yugoslav parliamentary delegation to the 3rd Interparliamentary
>Conference on Security and Cooperation in the Mediterranean underway in
>Marseilles, in a report on Saturday condemned the enforcing of a model of
>globalization of international relations and warned against the devastating
>consequences of the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia and the maintaining of
>sanctions against Yugoslavia.
>
> The enforcing of a model of globalization of international
>relations, the method of sanctions and restrictions, and the isolation of
>certain countries, all lead to inequality and present a special form of
>violation of elementary rights and the realization of civil freedoms, Dacic
>warned in his speech at the plenary session.
>
> Yugoslavia is a blatant example of a victim of such a policy,
>which has been holding that country and its people under a regime of
>discriminatory sanctions for almost 10 years, he said.
>
> The maintaining of the sanctions prevents a stable and dynamic
>development of Yugoslavia's economy and inflicts severe damage to
>economic-social life, he said.
>
> The conference will close on Monday. It is attended by MP's from
>24 countries of the Mediterranean, representatives of interparliamentary
>associations, and parliaments of other countries as associate members or
>observers.
>
> MINISTER MARKOVIC: QUICKLY INTO REALIZATION OF BUSINESS DEALS AND
>PROJECTS
>
> BEIJING, April 2 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav Telecommunications Minister
>Ivan Markovic said in Beijing on Sunday at the end of his four-day working
>visit to China, that the Yugoslav citizens and leadership have sincere and
>true friends in the Chinese people and leadership.
>
> During the visit, the companies JP PTT Srbija and Telekom Srbija
>signed an Agreement on business cooperation in all areas of telecommunications
>with the leading Chinese telecommunications company ZTE Zhungsin Telecom,
>whose realization has already begun.
>
> In a statement to the Tanjug correspondent in Beijing, Markovic
>said he was especially happy that, in his meetings in Beijing, the Yugoslav
>initiative for the union of all freedom-loving peoples of the world and the
>idea to set up a forum of freedom-loving parties and movements had been
>accepted entirely and without reservations.
>
> The movement of freedom-loving countries should rally countries,
>at the level of heads of state or government, to urge a multipolar world and
>the preservation of the United Nations, which should become a democratic
>parliament of equal states, said Minister Markovic.
>
> The forum is expected to be set up in Belgrade in October. It
>should be attended by over 100 parties, movements and prominent individuals
>from the whole world, he said.
>
> Markovic said cooperation between Yugoslavia and China in the area
>of telecommunications, as part of the successful overall cooperation between
>the two countries, has very good prospects. He expressed satisfaction with the
>speed with which business deals have been realized so far.
>
> MACEDONIAN PRESIDENT TRAJKOVSKI RECEIVED YUGOSLAV STATE PROSECUTOR
>JOKANOVIC SKOPJE, April 2 (Tanjug) - Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski
>received Yugoslav State
>
> Prosecutor Vukasin Jokanovic in Skopje on Saturday.
>
> Jokanovic arrived in Macedonia on the occasion of the 55th
>anniversary of the forming of the public prosecutor's office of this republic.
>
>
> After the meeting, Jokanovic said Trajkovski had urged the
>promotion of cooperation between the two countries, underscoring that all
>necessary conditions for this existed.
>
> The meeting was attended also by public prosecutors of Macedonia,
>Bulgaria and Albania, who are participants in the ceremony which will mark
>this anniversary at Skopje's Alexander Palace Hotel.
>
> During the visit to Macedonia, Jokanovic also held talks with
>public prosecutors of neighbouring countries. In these contacts, participants
>confirmed the resolve of Balkan countries jointly to fight crime which,
>Jokanovic said, does not recognize boundaries. This cooperation was recently
>confirmed in a document which was signed by representatives of prosecutor's
>offices of Balkan countries at a meeting in Ohrid, Macedonia.
>
> Prosecutor's offices and judicial bodies of Balkan countries
>cooperate successfully, respecting the Ohrid document, Jokanovic said,
>underscoring that there was particularly good cooperation between judicial
>bodies of Yugoslavia and Macedonia.
>

>of frescoes from 13th century Serb monasteries opened at the Doge's Palace in

>
> Within the opening of this exhibition, a round table was also held
>on Saturday on the topic "War and Cultural Heritage". Darko Tanaskovic, a
>professor at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade presented
>a noted report.
>
> LENARD'S ACTIVITIES IN IRAQ, JORDAN AND EGYPT
>
> BELGRADE, April 2 (Tanjug) - Parties of the left and progressive
>orientation in Arab countries urge a multipolar world and the reaffirming of
>principles of international law which should be based on respect for
>sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in the internal
>affairs of other states, and equality of people, nations and states.
>
> This is the basic message from talks held by Tatjana Lenard, the
>president of the Yugoslav Left (JUL) Directorate Committee for International
>Cooperation, with leading figures and representatives of the Baath party of
>Iraq and Jordan, the United Left of Jordan and the Progressive Unionist Party
>of Egypt, said a statement by the Directorate committee on Sunday.

>pressures, and paid tribute to the heroic resistance of the Yugoslav people
>and their leadership in war and peace against any form of blackmail or
>dictate.
>
> SERBIAN PROVINCE OF KOSOVO AND METOHIJA
>
> HALITI: NOT EVEN ELEMENTARY CONDITIONS EXIST FOR A CENSUS IN
>KOSOVO
>
> PRISTINA, April 2 (Tanjug) - Kosovo and Metohija Provisional
>Executive Council member Bajram Haliti told Tanjug on Sunday that it is
>evident that not even elementary conditions exist for a census within
>preparations for the upcoming elections in Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija
>province, given the constant terrorism, the ethnic cleansing of non-Albanians,
>the lack of conditions for the return of 350,000 expelled persons, and the
>illegal presence of hundreds of thousands of foreign citizens in the province.
>
>
> Haliti urged Romanies, who had numbered 150,000 in the province
>before the arrival of the international force KFOR in June 1999, to boycott
>any attempts at urging imminent elections in the province until elementary
>conditions for this are set - solid peace and stability based on United
>Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.
>
> Haliti said Romanies had no reason to be interested in a census,
>as they had been proclaimed ethnic Albanians during the 1971 and 1981
>censuses, along with ethnic Turks and Muslims, through unprecedented pressure
>and manipulations by ethnic Albanian secessionists in order to provide alleged
>evidence of their large numbers.
>
> ETHNIC ALBANIAN TERRORISTS WOUNDED A SERB
>
> KOSOVSKA VITINA/VRBOVAC, April 2 (Tanjug) - Ethnic Albanian
>terrorists wounded Serb Apostol Rakic, 65, in an armed attack on the local
>road Mogila-Vrbovac at about 8 p.m. on Saturday, amateur radio operators
>reported from Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija province on Sunday.
>
> After the attack, the terrorists fled in their automobile in the
>direction of the ethnic Albanian-populated village of Djelekare.
>
> Rakic was wounded in the arm. He was treated for the wound at the
>U.S. Bondsteel base near Urosevac, and was admitted to the hospital for
>further treatment.
>
> Serbs from this area of the province link the frequent ethnic
>Albanian terrorist attacks with the presence of notorious terrorist Sadam
>Fayza of Mogila, who was recently released from prison.
>
> As soon as they heard about the incident, Serbs went into the
>streets of Vrbovac and blocked all roads through the village, protesting
>against ethnic Albanian terrorists, but also against the international force
>KFOR which is deliberately lenient in securing and controlling checkpoints,
>thus enabling ethnic Albanian terrorists to launch attacks on Serbs and
>subsequently to escape, the radio amateurs' report said.
>
> EXPELLED KOSOVO EGYPTIANS STAGED A PROTEST IN BERLIN
>
> BERLIN, April 2 (Tanjug) - The Balkan Union of Egyptians in the
>West, presided by Robertina Arifi Asouri, organized a rally in Berlin on
>Saturday in protest against the expulsion of ethnic Egyptians and other
>non-Albanians from Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija province.
>
> The protest was attended by about 2,000 people.
>
> Kosovo Egyptians sent telegrams from the rally to the United
>Nations Security Council, special rapporteur on human rights Jiri Dienstbier,
>and U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Sadako Ogata, warning against the
>dangers of the humanitarian disaster in Kosovo and Metohija.
>
> It was pointed out to governments of European Union countries that
>ethnic Albanians have expelled a large number of members of the national
>community of Egyptians from Kosovo and Metohija. The European Union was asked
>not to repatriate expelled Kosovo Egyptians before security conditions are met
>for their return to the southern Serbian province.
>
> NATO AGGRESSION - ANNIVERSARY
>
> COMMEMORATION FOR NATO VICTIMS HELD IN SALONIKA
>
> ATHENS, April 2 (Tanjug) - A commemoration for victims of the NATO
>aggression on Yugoslavia was held at the church of St. Constantine and Helen
>in Salonika on Sunday morning.
>
> Prayers for all those killed in Yugoslavia in NATO air strikes
>last spring were attended by more than 2,000 citizens of Salonika, including
>Yugoslavs who live in this town, representatives of local authorities, public
>and political figures, as well as Yugoslav Consul in Salonika Borko Dujakovic
>and his associates.
>
> The commemoration, one in a series of events with which Salonika
>is marking the anniversary of the onset of the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia,
>was organized by the Yugoslav diaspora and the Society of Greek-Serb
>Friendship St. Sava of Salonika, and with great support and help from the
>Salonika bishopric of Neapoli-Stavropoli.
>
> FROM FOREIGN PRESS
>
> 'THE SUNDAY TIMES': LIES ABOUT "OPERATION HORSESHOE" REACH BRITAIN
>
> LONDON, April 2 (Tanjug) - German lies about ethnic cleansing of
>local Albanians from Serbia's Kosovo and Metohija province according to a
>operation dubbed "horseshoe" have reached Great Britain, but they are an
>absolute fabrication, 'The Sunday Times' said in an article on Sunday about
>these allegations.
>
> The story about alleged "operation horseshoe" was launched when
>the dissatisfaction of the public over the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia
>reached a critical point, especially in Germany, 'The Sunday Times' said.
>
> The fabrications were launched by German Foreign Minister Joschka
>Fischer, but the real author was Defense Minister Rudolph Scharping. The story
>somewhat pacified the public uproar, the weekly said.
>
> Retired German general Heinz Loquai, however, has now proven that
>the story had been a fabricated and deliberate lie. The principal source of
>the story is believed to have been a Bulgarian intelligence service report,
>but that was forged also in Germany, 'The Sunday Times' said.
>
> Originally, the Bulgarian intelligence report spoke about plans of
>the Yugoslav Army and police to break up the ethnic Albanian terrorist
>organization, the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), and not about
>alleged ethnic cleansing, the weekly said.
