Celebrating Vietnam Liberation Day in Germany and USA

Many activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the liberation of the south of Vietnam
were
held in the United States, the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in New York
reported.
These activities were held by leftwing and progressive organisations in the US. A
committee, called 'Committee for the 25th Anniversary of Vietnam Peace' was set up to
oversee these activities.
The committee released an appeal calling on American people to remember the crimes
American soldiers have committed against the Vietnamese, Cambodian and Lao people,
to remember the deaths of 58,000 American GIs in the war and the anti-war movement of
the American people and the undaunted spirit of the Vietnamese people.
The committee plans to organise meetings to celebrate April 30 in Manhattan, New York,
San Francisco, New Haven and Boston.
To mark the public holidays in Vietnam, the Vietnamese embassy in Germany held a
meeting between the Vietnamese embassy staff and a Vietnamese art troupe currently in
Germany for performance.
The troupe performed special programmes to entertain the Vietnamese community living
in Berlin, Hannover, Leipzig, Essen and Frankfurt.
The Vietnamese community in Germany held many cultural and sporting activities to
mark the public holidays in Vietnam, including a poem recital night, football games
and... http://www.billkath.demon.co.uk/cw/celebrating/celebrating.html
