VOJVODINA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HOLDS EMERGENCY SESSION

BELGRADE, May 14 (Tanjug) - On the occasion of the heinous murder of Bosko
Perosevic, the president of the Vojvodina Executive Council, the Executive
Council met in emergency session late Saturday and condemned this monstrous
and criminal act, the provincial Information Secretariat said.

Perosevic was shot in the head while touring the International Agriculture
Fair in Novi Sad at 12.15 hrs on Saturday. He was taken to the Novi Sad
Clinic Center, but died shortly after 4 p.m. in spite of great efforts by
medical teams to save his life.

Perosevic was a successful president of the Vojvodina Executive Council for
the eighth consecutive year. He made an immeasurable contribution to the
stability of political, economic and general social life in Vojvodina, in
particular to preserving good inter-ethnic relations, said the Vojvodina
government statement.

The Vojvodina Executive Council expressed the deepest condolences to the
Perosevic family and urged authorized state organs most energetically and
as soon as possible to solve this brutal and monstrous assassination.

Novi Sad Fair Director General Miodrag Koprivica expressed condolences to
the Perosevic family and most strongly condemned the insane crime in which
Vojvodina Executive Council President Perosevic lost his life at the
opening of the International Agriculture Fair.

The assassin has been identified as Milivoje Gutovic, 50, an assistant
technical worker-doorman at the Novi Sad Fair. He was not in possession of
an official weapon and he was not on duty at the time of the killing.

Police arrested the assassin on the spot and an investigation as to his
motives is under way.

BELGRADE, May 14 (Tanjug) - A joint commemorative session was held at the
Palace of the Federation in Belgrade on Sunday by organs of the Federal

and Yugoslav left (JUL) Directorate President Mira Markovic, Yugoslav and
Serbian state and party officials, Perosevic's wife Marina and daughters
Jelena and Jovana, and relatives of the brutally murdered Perosevic.

A minute of silence was observed in tribute to Perosevic, an exceptional
patriot, a respected, hard-working and modest man.

Expressing condolences to the family and paying tribute to Perosevic, SPS
Secretary-General Gorica Gajevic said his life had been taken by terrorism
- one of the biggest evils of the present times.

"The shot fired at Bosko Perosevic is a shot at all of us," she said,
underscoring that this terrorist act was aimed against the people and the
state, against all those who oppose hegemony, fascism, treachery, and
chaos.

FOREIGN MINISTER JOVANOVIC: WE WILL RETURN TO KOSOVO AND METOHIJA

KRAGUJEVAC, May 14 (Tanjug) - There are two solutions to the Kosovo crisis
- to respect the reached agreement or to have the international forces
leave the province and to allow Yugoslav army and police to restore law and
order, Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Main Board Executive Committee
member and Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic said in the
industrial town of Kragujevac, central Serbia, late Saturday.

The problem in the southern Serbian province is not that international
forces are powerless to protect non-Albanians from persecution, plunder,
murder, and abductions, but their lack of will to do so, he said.

Pointing out the conditions under which last year's NATO aggression on
Yugoslavia had ended, which included guarantees for state sovereignty and
integrity, set borders as unchangeable and the province's autonomy within
Serbia, Jovanovic said Yugoslavia would continue to insist on this, even
though "there is a limit to our patience."

During the period of the U.N.-led administration, since June 1999, over
350,000 local citizens have been expelled and 250,000 criminals from
neighbouring countries moved in, Jovanovic said, commenting that this was
practically an extension of the aggression on Yugoslavia.

Jovanovic also visited Arandjelovac, where he spoke about relations in the
world and said Yugoslavia's position had been strengthened and that there
were daily talks at high and top levels with representatives of many
friendly countries on reconstruction, development and expansion of all
forms of cooperation.

This enables businessmen to take an assertive approach in the foreign
market, which can be used much more fully for our internal development, he
said. Jovanovic spoke about the wide possibilities for economic cooperation
with Russia, China, Ukraine, countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America, and
most other markets in the world.

"The expansion of cooperation with partners who do not set any
preconditions or obstacles will facilitate awareness of the pointlessness
of the sanctions imposed by part of the European bureaucrats and
governments against our country and people," Jovanovic said.

Jovanovic underscored that there was ever growing criticism of sanctions
and a realization of their true purpose, just like the NATO aggression is
becoming recognized for its true objectives.

YUGOSLAV GOVERNMENT PRESENTED MEMORANDUM TO SECURITY COUNCIL AND ANNAN

NEW YORK, May 14 (Tanjug) - The Yugoslav government on Saturday presented
to U.N. Security Council President, Chinese Ambassador Wang Yingfan and
U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan the latest Memorandum on the
implementation of Resolution 1244 on Kosovo and Metohija, which
comprehensively presents facts and solid data on the grave situation
present in this southern Serbian province since the arrival of the U.N.
military and civilian missions.

In addition to the Memorandum, in which the Yugoslav government is
addressing the world organization for the fifth time to point out the
dramatic situation in Kosovo and Metohija, evaluations are also given on
the recent visit of a Security Council delegation to the southern Serbian
province.

Meanwhile, U.N. leading officials were presented an extensive letter by the
head of the Yugoslav mission to the United Nations, Ambassador Vladislav
Jovanovic, late Saturday.

In the letter, the Yugoslav ambassador spoke about the Report on the recent
visit of the Security Council delegation to Kosovo and Metohija (May
27-29), presenting many critical remarks about its contents, which he had
not been enabled to present in person at the open council session on
Thursday, May 11, when the Report was considered.

Jovanovic said certain parts of the Report did not reflect the situation in
the province, and even partly diverted attention from essential problems,
adding cosmetic touches to the policy and behaviour of UNMIK, KFOR, and in
particular the secretary-general's special representative Bernard Kouchner.

Since the arrival of the U.N. mission in June 1999, Kosovo and Metohija has
been turned into a base for training terrorists and a haven for
international criminals, the drug mafia, trade in white slavery, money
laundering, Jovanovic said, criticizing the work of Kouchner as UNMIK chief
and pointing out impermissible contradictions and omissions in the report
on the visit of the U.N. delegation.

Yugoslavia urged the Security Council to determine in concrete terms
whether all factors in Kosovo and Metohija have fulfilled their
obligations, said the letter sent together with the Memorandum and the
government Positions on the U.N. delegation report.
