Book on Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's noble obligation published Pyongyang,
May 27 (KCNA)
The Korean National Institute of China published a book "Noble Obligation
To Be Handed Down For Ever" in Chinese, which was written by Zhang Jinquan,
son of a Chinese revolutionary martyr Zhang Weihua, on the occasion of
Sun's Day, the birth anniversary of the President Kim Il Sung. The book
carries pictures showing the revolutionary activities of the great leaders
Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and warm love shown by them for Zhang's family.
Edited in the book were "Revolutionary Comrade-In-Arms Zhang Weihua" (1 and
2) of the fourth volume of part 1- the anti-Japanese revolution of Kim Il
Sung's reminiscences "With the Century." The book consists of nearly 40
subtitles including "Days When He Was Growing Into a Revolutionary," "'This
Is Zhang Weihua'" and "Flower of Sino-Korean Friendship Cultivated Through
Five Generations." The author of the book stressed that Kim Il Sung was a
great man born of heaven with the humblest and warmest humanity and
obligation in the world. He added that Kim Il Sung's love for Zhang's
family, which lasted over half a century since its start in Fusong, is now
invariably being carried forward by Kim Jong Il.
Struggle of NDFSK and S. Korean people supported Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA)
Juan Carretero, secretary general of the Organization of Solidarity of the
Peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America in Cuba, on May 10 sent a letter
addressed to the central committee of the National Democratic Front of
South Korea (NDFSK) to the NDFSK Pyongyang mission on the occasion of the
20th anniversary of the heroic Kwangju Popular Uprising. In the letter he
noted that the Kwangju Popular Uprising was an offspring of the desire of
the South Korean people to live in a reunified independent and democratic
country and a heroic and proud deed which gave a heavy blow to the colonial
fascist rule of the U.S. He further said: Though 20 years have passed since
the uprising, the desire of the South Korean people has not yet been
realized. The United States is hell-bent on the moves to perpetuate the
division of Korea, stationing its troops in South Korea. He extended full
support and solidarity to the NDFSK and the South Korean people in their
struggle to drive the U.S. murderers out of South Korea and reunify the
country.
Negative assertion of some S. Korean media about U.S. forces pullback
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA)
The secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the
Fatherland issued information bulletin no. 807 on May 26 denouncing some
mass media of South Korea for their negative assertion about the withdrawal
of the U.S. troops, a clear sign of their uneasiness about the anti-U.S.
sentiment for independence growing stronger among students and other
people. Some media in South Korea are spreading such sheer sophism that the
"important role" of the U.S. forces on the Korean peninsula and in
northeast Asia should not be "underestimated," actions staged against the
U.S. troops "may threaten" their presence in South Korea and any protest
should not lead to "rejecting" "their presence." These assertions are
nothing but preposterous jargons that can be made only by a group of hack
writers, reptile media going against the trend of the times and the strong
aspiration of the nation, as they are an unbearable insult to the mounting
anti-U.S. struggle staged by students and other people in South Korea, the
bulletin said, and went on: What is more intolerable is that some media in
South Korea claim that the South Korean people's anti-U.S. struggle is
"bolstering" someone's call for the U.S. forces withdrawal. This is an
unpardonable crime against the people and the nation. Some South Korean
media's echo of absurd assertions of the U.S. aggressors and their stooges
leaves no doubt that these hack writers and venal trumpeters are
misrepresenting justice as injustice and patriotism as treachery for a
petty amount of money. These media are well advised to return to their true
mission, though belatedly, and support and encourage the South Korean
people in their anti-U.S. struggle for independence. The information
bulletin called upon all the media-persons in South Korea to powerfully
wield their pens of justice and take the lead in the struggle for the
withdrawal of the U.S. from South Korea and independence, democratization
of the society and the reunification of the country.
Ridiculous "commemorations" of Korean War under fire Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA)
Yun Song Sik, permanent member of the Consultative Council of Former South
Korean Politicians In the North For the Promotion of Peaceful
Reunification, in an interview with KCNA on Friday denounced the United
States and the South Korean authorities for busying themselves with various
"commemorations" intended to cover up their true colors as war criminals
with the approach of the half centenary of the Korean War of aggression
ignited by them. He said: The war criminals should have been severely
punished by history. The U.S. and the South Korean authorities'
"commemorations" of the war of aggression provoked by themselves, are
therefore, an intolerable mockery of and challenge to justice and human
conscience. This is aimed to allay the anti-U.S. sentiment of the South
Korean people now at its height following the disclosure of the truth
behind GIs' mass killings in Rogun-ri, justify the war of aggression they
ignited 50 years ago and paint the U.S. aggressor forces as an "apostle of
peace" and "protector," yun said. He cited historical facts to prove that
the U.S. and the South Korean authorities' invasion of the north cannot be
distorted as the "north's invasion of the south." He pointed out that
another aim sought by them is to justify their moves for the second war
against the north and draw the Korean War participants into this war. He
called upon the South Korean patriotic people to decisively frustrate the
U.S. and its stooges' funny "commemorations" and come out vigorously in the
anti-U.S., anti-war struggle.
U.S. "plan for partly return" of land used by it assailed Pyongyang, May 27
(KCNA)
The "Ministry of National Defense" of South Korea on May 2 said that the
U.S. forces informed South Korea of its plan to return only 6,600 hectares
of land out of the area of their bases in South Korea by 2007, according to
the Japanese Asahi Shimbun. The U.S. forces were reported to have requested
the South Korean authorities to offer 2,000 hectares of land to them for a
military base in return for implementing their plan, adding they would
sustain their presence in South Korea. This betrays the black-hearted
design of the U.S. to retain a permanent hold on South Korea as their
military base for aggression. Their proposed partly "return" of land is
nothing but a cunning trick to grab new land for their key base in return
for delivering back some unnecessary land to South Korea, while pretending
to meet with a half heart the growing demand of people in various parts of
South Korea for the return of the land used as U.S. military bases.
KCNA on U.S. arms buildup
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. magazine Aviation Week and Space
Technology recently reported that the United States deployed two new type
of strategic bombers B-1 capable of carrying nuclear bombs at the U.S. air
force base in South Korea, a new move to perfect its strategy for air raids
on the DPRK in "contingency". According to the magazine, the U.S. has
already laid down an "order for the air force to fulfil its mission" which
calls for hurling the U.S. troops in Japan into South Korea the moment a
new war breaks out in Korea and ordered the U.S. air force in South Korea
to intensify its drills. This is an irrefutable proof that the U.S. is the
very one responsible for increasing tensions, displeased with the climate
created for a dialogue for peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula.
This move disclosed the U.S. intention to use nuclear weapons without
hesitation on the Korean peninsula. It is aimed to further escalate the
political and military tensions on the Korean peninsula in a bid to chill
the climate for the north-south dialogue. This means that the U.S.
disavowed the DPRK-U.S. agreed framework in which it promised not to make
any nuclear threat and nuclear attack on the other side, thus self-exposing
that its talk about peace and dialogue is no more than hypocrisy. Its wild
design to dominate the world by force of arms remains unchanged and its
"policy of strength" is becoming more undisguised. The U.S. should bear in
mind that it will be held entirely accountable for the consequences to be
entailed by its reckless arms buildup. The U.S. is well advised to behave
itself, clearly understanding the DPRK's will to counter "strength" with
strength.
Japanese reactionaries' war jargon flayed Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA)
Foreign diplomatic envoys and representatives of international
organisations here yesterday visited realigned fields in North Phyongan
Province, the northwestern part of Korea. They, being briefed on the fact
that the Korean people and servicepersons carried out a task of realigning
more than 50,000 hectares in a matter of months, went round the fields of
the Chojang cooperative farm in Kwaksan county and the Sinchon cooperative
farm in Jongju city. At the end of the visit, Palestinian ambassador Shaher
Mohammed Abdlah said he was deeply moved to see the achievements gained in
the land rezoning in North Phyongan Province under the wise guidance of the
great Kim Jong Il. Mongolian ambassador Damdiny Byamba said the eye-opening
changes in North Phyongan Province serve as evidence that the Korean people
rallied close around leader Kim Jong Il are able to carry out any difficult
tasks with credit. Cuban ambassador Jose Manuel Inclan Embade said the
province successfully carried out a vast land-rezoning project so as to
increase agricultural production.
Realigned fields visited by foreigners
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The Japanese reactionaries are talking these
days such gibberish that there is the danger of Japan's involvement in a
war because of North Korea in a desperate bid to convince the public of
non-existent "missile threat" from the DPRK and "suspected kidnapping."
Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary dismisses this as a war jargon
of those keen on reinvasion. The commentary goes on:
It is not Japan but the DPRK that is exposed to a missile threat. The
Japanese reactionaries are now working hard to establish the "Theatre
Missile Defense" system in league with the United States. This is targeted
against the Asian countries including the Korean peninsula. It is not the
DPRK but Japan which is responsible for the "issue of kidnapping." Japan is
a country with the world's biggest kidnapping record. It was publicly known
that at least six million Koreans were kidnapped and drafted by Japan in
the past. Their talk about Japan's possible involvement in a war because of
the DPRK is an undisguised war plan to realize its ambition for reconquest
under the pretext of "threat" from the DPRK. The Japanese reactionaries are
zealously involved in the U.S. war strategy in a bid to realize their dream
of reinvasion with the U.S. backing. This is the reason why Japan is
floating such a fiction. If the Japanese reactionaries persist in their
moves to stifle the DPRK, they will meet only destruction.
Kwangju Popular Uprising hailed abroad
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The Palestine Liberation Organization and the
New Communist Party of Great Britain separately released press statements
on May 19 and 17 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Kwangju Popular
Uprising in South Korea in May 1980. The statements noted that the Kwangju
Popular Uprising was an eruption of the pent-up grudge and anger and an
offspring of the ardent desire for independence, democracy and
reunification of the South Korean people opposing the colonial tyrannical
rule by the U.S. and their stooges. The statements further said:
20 years have passed since the uprising, but the desire of the uprisers has
not been met at all. After cooking up the pro-U.S. military dictatorial
"government," the U.S. try to perpetuate this system of their colonial rule
by changing its name. The South Korean authorities are mercilessly
suppressing the patriotic struggle of the people while eagerly supporting
the U.S.'s colonial domination and war moves. The United States, the
assailant and backstage manipulator of the Kwangju massacre in which a
large number of citizens were brutally murdered, should officially
apologize to the South Korean people for the massacre and immediately
withdraw its forces and war equipment from South Korea, putting an end to
its anachronistic intervention and domination over South Korea. The South
Korean ruling quarters should discontinue dependence on outside forces and
flunkeyist and traitorous deeds, make policy switchover for national
independence, repeal the "Security Law" and dissolve the "Intelligence
Service" obstructive to independence, democracy and reunification and stop
at once the suppression of the patriotic and democratic forces.
Gigantic land realignment project in Korea praised Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA)
D. D. Shastri, chairman of the Trade Union Coordinating Center of India,
issued a press statement on May 19 after studying the great leader Kim Jong
Il's famous work "Improving the Layout of the Fields Is a Great
Transformation of Nature For the Prosperity of the Country, a Patriotic
Work of Lasting Significance." Kim Jong Il, faithful successor to the
revolutionary cause of the President Kim Il Sung, is carrying forward with
credit the leadership exploits of the President in agriculture, too, he
said, and went on: Kim Jong Il unrolled an ambitious plan for land
realignment and has energetically steered the struggle for its
implementation on the spot. Such large-scale land realignment projects now
under way in the DPRK can be undertaken only by socialist Korea under the
outstanding leader, who totally dedicated to the country and the people, is
making a great history of creation and construction. He expressed
confidence that the agricultural workers in the DPRK would create a new
great history of the full realization of agricultural mechanization under
the long-term plan of Kim Jong Il.
False assertion of investigating team for probe into U.S. bombing refuted
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA)
Inhabitants near a firing range of the U.S. air force in Maehyang-ri on May
25 dismissed the assertion of the South Korea-U.S. "joint investigating
team" as "totally unacceptable," a Seoul-based radio reported. In an
interview with some media it claimed the damage done to inhabitants was not
attributable to the bombing exercise of the U.S. air force. The committee
of measures for the compensation for damage done to inhabitants in
Maehyang-ri declared that it would stage a more powerful struggle for the
closure of the firing range of the U.S. air force, irrespective of the
results of the deceptive investigation. It warned the U.S. air force that
if the U.S. air force restarts the firing exercise on May 29, it would join
members of civic organizations in the struggle to immediately remove wire
entanglements around the firing range and occupy it.
DPRK delegation leaves to attend ORC meeting Pyongyang, May 27
A DPRK railway delegation headed by Minister of Railways Kim Yong Sam left
here today to attend the 28th ministerial meeting of the Organization of
Railways Cooperation (ORC) to be held in Latvia.
Act of chilling dialogue
Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- Jo Song Thae, "Minister of National Defense" of
South Korea, made a tour of Japan from May 20 to 24. At the talks with the
director general of the Japan Defense Agency during his tour he called for
vigilance against the north and close relations among Japan, the United
States and South Korea for a joint counteraction irrespective of the
north-south summit talks. He also took issue with the north over "missile
issue" and non-existent biological and chemical weapons and had a confab on
"increased South Korea-Japan military exchange and cooperation". The
anti-north diatribe is an unpardonable challenge designed to chill
inter-Korean reconciliation and unity. It is also a hostility toward
dialogue partner. The DPRK has made every sincere effort to make the
soon-to-be-held north-south dialogue arranged with so much effort produce
good results in conformity with the great expectation and desire of the
nation. If the South Korean authorities are truly interested in dialogue
and reunification, they should discontinue anti-north diatribe designed to
spoil the atmosphere of dialogue. The recent anti-north diatribe by Jo,
keen on confrontation with the north, revealed once again the willingness
of the South Korean authorities for showdown with the north. From the very
day when the north-south agreement was published, Jo has let out utterances
getting on the nerves of the north and spoiling the atmosphere of dialogue.
On April 24 he met with the American ambassador in Seoul and the commander
of the U.S. forces present in South Korea to ask for close "anti-north
cooperation" in the efforts to cope with the summit and the changing
situation. He called a series of meetings with brass hats and told the
nonsense that "the summit is a product of South Korea's engagement policy
toward the north" and the army should back policies of the "government with
strong force." The utterances made by Jo at the talks with the director
general of the Japan Defense Agency manifested his stand opposing dialogue
and reunification. If the South Korean authorities truly want improved
inter-Korean relations, peace and reunification, they should no longer egg
such ultra right anti-DPRK elements as Jo on to make anti-north diatribe
aimed at chilling dialogue. They should not misjudge the magnanimity of the
north. If they continue to seek confrontation with the dialogue partner,
they will be held entirely responsible for all the consequences arising
therefrom. The north will closely follow their future behaviour.
