FROM THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF YUGOSLAVIA

YUGOSLAV MISSION LODGES PROTEST WITH E.U. COUNCIL

BRUSSELS, May 30 (Tanjug) - Yugoslavia's charge d'affaires to the European
Union in Brussels on Tuesday protested with the Council of the European
Union over the latest series of ethnic Albanian terrorist crimes against
Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.

In the protest letter, Nikola Lukic asked the Council members to condemn
the latest tragic developments and murders of Serb civilians in that
U.N.-administered Serbian (Yugoslav) province.

Lukic asked for resolute measures to be taken in cooperation with the U.N.
civilian and military missions to Kosovo-Metohija to stop the ongoing
ethnic cleansing campaign against the province's non-Albanians, and prevent
murders and other crimes.

He also asked that steps be taken to ensure a consistent implementation of
U.N. Resolution 1244 in the best interests of peace and security for all
people in the province.

The latest in a series of appeals for a consistent implementation of
international accords on Kosovo-Metohija was prompted by the murder of
three Serb civilians and the wounding of two others in the province's
village of Cernica near Gnjilane earlier this week.

The incident occurred when ethnic Albanian terrorists, on no provocation
whatsoever, opened fire on a group of Serb civilians in the village, which
is one of the few multiethnic localities still remaining in the province.

This fact explains why Cernica has frequently been targeted by ethnic
Albanian terrorists in their ethnic cleansing campaign, the ultimate
purpose of which is completely to eliminate non-Albanians from
Kosovo-Metohija and create a state within a state.

The worst thing is that all this has been happening since the deployment of
the international force (KFor) and the U.N. civilian mission (UNMIK) last
June, the letter stressed.

A similar situation prevails throughout Kosovo-Metohija, where the
so-called "peacekeepers" turn a blind eye to the murders, attacks,
harassment and threats against the Serb population, it added.

The "peacekeepers" have taken no steps against the terrorists, which speaks
volumes about the environment created since their deployment to
Kosovo-Metohija; insecurity, persecution, fear and lawlessness prevail, the
letter said.

Moreover, there are indications that KFor members collaborate directly with
ethnic Albanian extremists towards putting into effect their plan of
completing the process of ethnically cleansing Kosovo-Metohija of its
non-Albanians.

The remaining Serbs and other non-Albanians have been driven into virtual
reservations and are fair game in a ruthless hunt pursued in full view of
the so-called international community and "peacekeepers".

This practice is impermissible and must be put a stop to at once, if
further suffering of Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija is to
be prevented.

YUGOSLAVIA - MEXICO

SERBIAN PREMIER RECEIVED MEXICAN AMBASSADOR

BELGRADE, May 30 (Tanjug) - Serbian Premier Mirko Marjanovic received on
Tuesday Mexico's new Ambassador to Yugoslavia Carlos Rodriguez y Quezada,
at the latter's request, a Serbian government statement said. During the
ensuing cordial discussion it was stressed that Yugoslavia (in which Serbia
is a republic) and Mexico are linked by historically friendly ties and an
understanding based on centuries of struggling for freedom and
independence.

Marjanovic said that significant potential exists for expanding
cooperation, both in the economy, as well as in culture, science and other
fields between Serbia and Yugoslavia, and Mexico.

AMBASSADOR OF MEXICO VISITS YUGOSLAV CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

BELGRADE, May 31 (Tanjug) - President of the Chamber of Commerce of
Yugoslavia Mihailo Milojevic received on Wednesday the newly-appointed
Ambassador of Mexico in FR Yugoslavia Carlos Rodriguez Quesada, with whom
he talked about possibilities of promoting economic cooperation between the
two states. Greeting the Mexican ambassador, Milojevic expressed his
satisfaction to see a member of the friendly Mexican people, and his belief
that the friendship will be further developed, while at the same time
expanding and developing economic cooperation.

The ambassador of Mexico stated his wish for the expansion of economic and
trade cooperation between the two countries, pointing to the interest of
Mexican businessmen to invest capital in our cement plants and expand
cooperation in the food industry.

YUGOSLAVIA - RUSSIA

RYZHKOV URGES STRONG RUSSIAN POSITION ON KOSOVO-METOHIJA

MOSCOW, May 30 (Tanjug) - With the mandate of the international force KFor
in Kosovo-Metohija expiring on June 10, Moscow should take a strong
position and demand a strict implementation of U.N. Resolution 1244, a
State Duma (lower house) official said Tuesday.

Nikolai Ryzhkov, who heads the Duma's commission for helping Yugoslavia
overcome the consequences of last spring's NATO aggression, was speaking at
a news conference on results of a commission delegation's visit to
Yugoslavia on May 24-28.

Ryzhkov said the policy of Bernard Kouchner, U.N. mission (UNMIK) chief in
that Serbian (Yugoslav) province, erodes the authority of the United
Nations and lays the groundwork for further conflicts, which would
extremely negatively affect European security.

Ryzhkov stressed that the western countries have not kept their promises to
help rebuild NATO-devastated civilian facilities in Yugoslavia, but despite
this, the people of Yugoslavia are doing their all to restore the shattered
national economy.

YUGOSLAV MINISTER RECEIVES RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR

BELGRADE, May 31 (Tanjug) - Yugoslavia's Minister of development, science
and the environment Nada Sljapic discussed with Russia's new Ambassador in
Belgrade Valery Egoshkin on Wednesday ways and means to promote bilateral
cooperation and friendly ties.

Sljapic and Egoshkin particularly reviewed matters having to do with the
implementation of joint scientific and technical projects for Yugoslavia's
post-NATO-aggression reconstruction and development, a government statement
said. It was hoped that the forthcoming visit to Russia by Yugoslavia's
delegation headed by Sljapic, to attend the 4th St. Petersburg economic
forum, would contribute to closer bilateral cooperation, the statement
said.

YUGOSLAVIA - PALESTINA

YUGOSLAV CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DELEGATION VISITS GAZA

GAZA, May 31 (Tanjug) - A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce of
Yugoslavia, headed by the chamber's secretary for agriculture Milan
Prostran, talked in Gaza with the president of the Palestinian Chamber of
Commerce, Muhamed al Kudvon, and officials of the Palestinian commercial
association that rallies several thousand companies.

In the talks also took part Yugoslav Charge d'Affaires in Palestine Oliver
Potezica.

Muhamad Al Kuva and Milan Prostran signed a bilateral agreement on
cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce of Yugoslavia and the
Plestinian Chamber of Commerce.

Underlined in the talks was the joint interest to intensify economic
contacts and develop economic cooperation between Yugoslavia and the
Palestinian Autonomy.

It was pointed out that economic cooperation in the past period and the
traditional Yugoslav-Palestinian friendship were a good basis for promoting
economic relations in the coming period.

SERBIAN PROVINCE OF KOSOVO AND METOHIJA

ANDJELKOVIC: KOSOVO-METOHIJA - SOVEREIGN PART OF OUR TERRITORY

KRUSEVAC, May 31 (Tanjug) - President of the Provisional Executive Council
of Kosovo and Metohija Zoran Andjelkovic said Tuesday evening on Mt.
Jastrebac that Albanian terrorists continue to kill Serbs in
Kosovo-Metohija, in spite of the presence of KFOR forces. Andjelkovic, who
spoke at a press conference of some 70 foreign journalists staying in our
country as guests of the Alliance of Journalists of Yugoslavia, said that
two days ago were killed a four-year-old child and two Serbs in a village
in Kosovo and Metohija.

Grenade and mortar attacks on Serbs are continuous, and non-Albanians are
not guaranteed security even in their own homes, let alone in the field or
in the street, Andjelkovic said.

Andjelkovic, citing concrete examples of ethnic cleansing of non-Albanian
populations in towns, said that in Pristina, of the former 44,000 Serbs,
now live only 270, including translators, members of the provisional
executive council and of the Center for Peace and Tolerance.

Of the 24,000 students in Pristina, there isn't a single one now,
Andjelkovi said and added that the KFOR forces commander Juan Ortuno
recently told the residents of a village not to go into the fields.

Andjelkovic said that in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija have remained
110,000 Serbs and said he hoped that racism in the territory will be
checked.

According to Andjelkovic, since the signing of the military-technical
agreement and of UN SC Resolution 1244, in Kosovo-Metohija have been killed
1,100 Serbs and other non-Albanians, and 900 have been kidnapped.

He said that Albanian terrorists in that period expelled from Kosovo
360,000 Serbs, ethnic Egyptians, Roma, Goranies... while at the same time
into the territory have moved 300,000 Albanians from Albania, who never
lived in Kosovo-Metohija.

"FR Yugoslavia put up a heroic fight against the aggression of the largest
military power in the history of mankind," said at the same press
conference Yugoslav Assistant Foreign Minister Nebojsa Vujovic, adding that
we have come out of the conflict with military experience and patriotic
enthusiasm of the population greater than ever in our recent history.

He said that the position of FR Yugoslavia was clear: Kosovo-Metohija is a
sovereign part of our territory, what, is confirmed by Resolution 1244.
Vujovic added that our country was ready and open for cooperation on the
realization of Resolution provisions, but will never agree at any price the
violating or circumventing of that document.

Vujovic pointed out that the reconstruction of the country was a grandiose
undertaking of this, and maybe of the next generation, noting that the
sanctions imposed by the U.S. and the European Union are greatly hindering
reconstruction, but have not thwarted or stopped it.

"The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia is vitally interested in renewing all
forms of cooperation with Western countries on an equal footing," Vujovic
said. He underlined that we have the strength and patience to wait for the
moment when we will discuss everything and on an equal footing. Vujovic
reminded that the pre-condition for the renewal of those relations was the
lifting of sanctions, damage compensation and the cessation of all forms of
pressure and isolation, as well as interference in the internal affairs of
FR Yugoslavia.

ROBERTSON SUPPORTS AND PRAISES INFAMOUS TERRORIST

PRISTINA, May 31 (Tanjug) - NATO Secretary General George Robertson praised
on Wednesday in Pristina one of the most infamous Albanian terrorists, Agim
Cheku, commander of the so-called "Kosovo protection corps," which is only
another name for the terrorist "KLA," and moreover offered to help would-be
efforts to promote peace and reconciliation in the southern Serbian
province.

Robertson took a step further, he become one of the few foreign visitors
roaming around Kosovo-Metohija to claim that "progress" has been made in
the past year since the establishment in the Province of two U.N. missions
- civilian (UNMIK) and security (KFOR).

NATO secretary general apparently has only one goal - support for
terrorists - because what kind of support can he speak about two days after
an Albanian terrorist, nearby U.S. KFOR troops, killed three Serbs,
including a four-year-old child, raising the number of killed Serbs since
the arrival of KFOR to 900.

Robertson ignores the fact that in the past year from Kosovo-Metohija have
been expelled 360,000 Serbs and other non-Albanians, that in Pristina live
today only 270 Serbs, as compared to 44,000 a year ago, that Albanian
terrorists have burned down or plundered over 40,000 Serbian houses...

Only Robertson sees progress there. Nevertheless, he claims that in
Kosovo-Metohija things are getting better and better and apparently in that
improvement he sees also the role of Agim Cheku, Hashim Tachi and others.

WESTERN COUNTRIES ISSUE VISAS TO ALBANIANS IN PRISTINA

BELGRADE, May 31 (Tanjug) - The governments of Western countries, including
those with whom FR Yugoslavia broke off diplomatic relations due to their
participation in NATO's aggression last year, have opened in secrecy some
kind of consulates in Pristina, in direct violation of Resolution 1244 and
of regulations from the diplomatic relations of the sovereign state of
Yugoslavia.

The opening of those illegal representations is in accordance with the
recent opening of Pristina airport for civilian traffic and where there are
no Serbian or Yugoslav customs organs, which is in direct violation of the
sovereignty of Serbia and of FR Yugoslavia.

Such "consulates" or "consulary departments" is Pristina have been opened
by Italy, Switzerland, Germany and some other European states who in that
way have "circumvented" the state of FR Yugoslavia, all with the intention
of helping "Kosovars" submit applications for visas for Western countries.

The practice, with the blessing of Bernard Kouchner, enables confirmed
terrorists, mobsters, drug-dealers and other criminals to stay out of reach
of the Serbian and Yugoslav authorities, but there is a growing number of
ethnic Albanians who can no longer support the lawlessness and terror of
their kinsmen in Kosovo-Metohija so they have decided to emigrate.

Kouchner's tolerance and the talks he holds about the opening of
paradiplomatic representations in the province, without consultations or
the approval of the government of FR Yugoslavia, represents the most
flagrant form of violation of the principle of sovereignty and territorial
integrity of FR Yugoslavia.

YUGOSLAVIA - INTERNATIONAL REACTIONS

MICHEL COLON IN SUPPORT OF YUGOSLAVIA

PARIS, May 31 (Tanjug) - A well-known Belgian publicist, Michel Colon,
spoke in public in the past few days in towns of southern France about
current developments in the world with respect to the activity of big
countries and NATO's role concerning FR Yugoslavia and called for
comprehensive support for FR Yugoslavia.

Colon, who spoke in Toulon, Marseille, Avignon, Toulouse, Lion and Annecy,
by giving very precise data, corroborated by geographic facts and
statements of the creators of "the new world order," laid bare the policy
of the United States and their NATO allies towards FR Yugoslavia.

He reminded about the shameful role of the media in many actions of world
power brokers, and particularly in preparing the public for NATO's
aggression last year on Yugoslavia and during the bombing of our country.

Colon called for support for Yugoslavia, the only country that found the
strength to resist the dictate of a great power and its efforts to
subjugate all Balkans states, and many other states on other continents, to
its interest and its vision of globalization.

FROM FOREIGN PRESS

MONITOR: KOSOVO-METOHIJA IS NO INDEPENDENT STATE

SOFIA, May 31 (Tanjug) - Kosovo-Meothija is not an "independent state" and
not a "subject of international law," Sofia newspaper "Monitor" warned on
Tuesday Prime Minister Ivan Kostov, after his announcement that Bulgaria
will open a "diplomatic bureau" in Pristina.

The daily warned, also, that would be in violation of international
conventions and carried assessments by experts that Bulgaria, if it decides
to make such a move, "will commit another gaffe with respect to
Kosovo-Metohija,"

Bulgaria, however, obtained support for its idea from UN Civilian Mission
chief in Kosovo-Metohija Bernard Kouchner, who in that way once again
violated Resolution 1244.

UNMIK chief was on a several-hour visit to Sofia, where he held talks with
Prime Minister Ivan Kostov.
