Party Leader Hails Cuban Contributions Party leader Le Kha Phieu talks with
Mr Balaguer. General Secretary Le Kha Phieu said he highly valued Cuba�s
active contributions to the struggle to safeguard the legitimate interests
of developing countries, the culmination of which was the successful G-77
summit held in Havana in April. The Part leader was speaking during a
reception given to visiting Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Politburo member,
director of the CPC�s Central Committee External Relations Commission and
Cuba�s special presidential envoy Jos� Ramon Balaguer in Hanoi on June 21.
The Party leader expressed his gladness at the socio-economic developments
recorded by the Cuban people despite the blockade imposed by imperialism.
Mr Balaguer said he was very happy to revisit Vietnam as a Cuban special
presidential envoy to confer President Tran Duc Luong the Jos� Marti Order,
the most honourable order of Cuba. He spoke highly of the achievements
recorded by the Vietnamese people in the renovation process. He said he
believed that the traditional friendship and multi-faceted co-operation
between the two Parties, governments and peoples have been further
strengthened and developed, especially after the Cuban visit of General
Secretary Le Kha Phieu in 1999. During his stay in Vietnam, Mr Balaguer had
a working session with his Vietnamese counterpart, Communist Party of
Vietnam Central Committee member and director of its Committee External
Relations Commission, Nguyen Van Son. The two discussed measures to
strengthen ties between the two Parties and the two external relations
commissions.
