Albright, Fischer meet Serbian opposition in Berlin BERLIN, June 29 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer met Serbian opponents of Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic in the margins of a conference on southeast Europe on Thursday. ``What we see happening, and they discussed, was the gelling of democratic forces in Serbia and the need to remain united,'' a senior U.S. State Department official told reporters in Berlin where the meeting took place. Albright and Fischer received Democratic Party leader Zoran Djindjic and a representative of the Social Democratic Union, the Civic Alliance and Serbian Renewal Movement, whose leader, Vuk Draskovic, was not there. Others at the breakfast included representatives from Bulgaria, Slovakia, Croatia and Montenegro and two Serbian town officials who belong to opposition parties -- the mayor of Pancevo and deputy mayor of Kraljevo. The United States is still trying to unseat Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic more than a year since NATO's bombing campaign that stopped his forces' ethnic cleansing rampage against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
