YUGOSLAVIA - RUSSIA PRESIDENT MILOSEVIC RECEIVES DUMA MP ROGOZYN BELGRADE,
July 11 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic received on
Tuesday the President of the Russian State Duma International Relations
Committee, Dmitry Olegovich Rogozin, who heads a Duma delegation visiting
Yugoslavia. The prominent guest acquainted President Milosevic with the
foreign-policy engagement of the Russian Parliament, in particular its
stands in principle which expressly condemn the NATO aggression on
Yugoslavia and urge respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity,
as well as the affirmation of the equality of states and nations, which
rules out the policy of force, sanctions and pressures. President Milosevic
underscored that cooperation between Yugoslavia and Russia was developing
successfully, in which regular and comprehensive parliament ties play a
significant role since they contribute to strengthening mutual
understanding and confidence between the peoples of the two states and
present a confirmation of their solid friendship.

YUGOSLAV MINISTER JOVANOVIC RECEIVES DUMA DELEGATION BELGRADE, July 11
(Tanjug) - Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic received on Monday a
delegation representing the International Relations Committee of the
Russian State Duma, led by Committee President Dmitry Olegovich Rogozin.
Other members of the Russian delegation who took part in the talks were
Alexandr Alexandrovich Shabanov, Vice-President of the International
Relations Committee, also President of the Geopolitics Committee,
Vice-President of the Geopolitics Committee Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky, and
the Russian Ambassador to Yugoslavia Valery Yefgenievich Egoshkin. In a
long, cordial conversation, the officials of the two countries pointed out
that continual cooperation of the Yugoslav and Russian Parliaments makes a
significant contribution to the general aspects of the stable long-term
cooperation between Yugoslavia and Russia. The Russian MPs informed the
Jovanovic that the Duma strongly supports Yugoslavia's efforts to preserve
its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and also condemns
any kind of pressure, or attempts at interference in internal issues of
Yugoslavia. In the last two weeks, the Duma adopted documents which appeal
for lifting of sanctions against Yugoslavia and denounce the biased and
anti-Serb policy of the Hague Tribunal, the MPs also said. During the
talks, the two sides called for the abolition of the so-called Hague
Tribunal, which is no more than an instrument of NATO, intended to provide
justification for the aggression and genocide against Serbs. Jovanovic gave
credit to the Duma for constantly backing the efforts of the Yugoslavs to
defend the essential interests of their country, and to maintain its
sovereignty and territorial integrity.

RUSSIA: IMPORTANCE IN PRINCIPLE TO PRESERVE YUGOSLAVIA MOSCOW, July 11
(Tanjug) - The new foreign policy concept of the Russian Federation
underscores that it is important in principle for Russia that Yugoslavia's
territorial integrity should be preserved and any attempts at its
dismembering prevented. Yugoslavia's dismembering would pose a threat of a
general conflict breaking out in the Balkans with unpredictable
consequences, said the document which was endorsed by President Vladimir
Putin at the end of June, and whose full text was announced for the first
time on Tuesday. The special 22-page document also says that Russia will do
its utmost to contribute toward finding a lasting and just solution to the
situation in the Balkans, which will be founded on coordinated decisions of
the international community. The Balkans is also mentioned in the part
Concepts, which defines Moscow's relations toward the Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Russia will resolutely oppose
any narrowing of the OSCE's functions, primarily meaning any attempts to
direct activities of this organization exclusively to the post-Soviet area
and the Balkans.

FROM THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF YUGOSLAVIA CHARGES FILED AGAINST AUSTRALIAN
FIRM, ROMANIA FOR POLLUTING TISZA BELGRADE, July 11 (Tanjug) - Yugoslavia
has filed charges with the Belgrade Business Court against the
Romanian-based Australian firm Esmeralda and the state of Romania for
damages incurred by their polluting of the River Tisza, Federal Public
Prosecutor Milos Bojovic told Tanjug on Tuesday. The charges were filed by
the authorized Federal Office of the Public Prosecutor on June 19.
Yugoslavia demands two million dollars' worth of compensation from Romania
for damages incurred through the pollution of the Tisza in Yugoslav
territory early this year, Bojovic said. This is the first time that
Yugoslavia is filing charges against another state. Romania is the
responsible party because it answers for the work of all companies in its
territory and for all damages incurred abroad through their activities,
Bojovic said. Romania is a signatory of an Agreement on the protection of
the Tisza from pollution, Bojovic said. The Agreement was signed by all
states through which the Tisza flows, and it was ratified by Yugoslavia in
1990, he said. There is no doubt concerning the responsibility of Esmeralda
and the state of Romania for polluting the Tisza. In the night between Jan
30-31, 2000, a waste reservoir of the Bayamare Gold Mine spilled into the
Tisza, polluting its waters with cyanide and other heavy metals, Bojovic
said.

CHURCH GIVES MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR TESLA BELGRADE, July 11 (Tanjug) - A
memorial service for Nikola Tesla at the St. George Church in Belgrade on
Monday was the first in a series of events marking the 144th anniversary of
the birth of one of the biggest Serb scientists and a world-famous
inventor. A whole-day event named "Tesla's planetary picnic" was organized
by Radio Belgrade on Monday following the service. This included an
exhibition of inventions by members of Tesla Clubs from all over Serbia at
the popular Ada Ciganlija Picnic Grounds on the Sava river. Tesla
(1856-1943) was a physicist and inventor, the author of the new technical
order, whose inventions laid the foundations and set the course for the
spiralling scientific-technical development of the human race in the 20th
century. He was one of the biggest minds in the history of world science,
in particular electrical sciences. Tesla patented about 700 of his
inventions in the area of alternate currents, telecommunications, acoustics
and mechanics, many of which are in wide use. He was a pioneer in radio
technology, basic telegraphy, radars. The value of his polyphase system of
alternate currents was proven in the first hydro-electric power plant which
was built on Niagara Falls.

DELEGATION OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS OF EUROPE VISITS SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH
BELGRADE, July 11 (Tanjug) - At the invitation of the Holy Synod of the
Serbian Orthodox Church, a nine-member delegation, representing the Roman
Catholic Bishopric Conferences of the EU countries, is to begin its visit
to the Orthodox Church on Thursday, July 13, said the Public Relations
Office of the Serbian Orthodox Church on Tuesday. The Commission,
consisting of bishops from Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, Scotland
and Italy, will be led by Bishop Homeier of Hildesheim, Germany. During
their ten-day stay in Serbia, the guests from Europe will have talks with
the equivalent commission of the Holy Council of the Serbian Orthodox
Church, regarding the issues of theological dialogue and cooperation. In
Novi Sad and Belgrade, the bishops will also visit sites destroyed in last
year's NATO aggression, as well as several monasteries in Serbia, says the
statement of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

YUGOSLAVIA - HUMANITARIAN AID MINISTER MORINA RECEIVES UNHCR DELEGATION
BELGRADE, July 11 (Tanjug) - Yugoslav Minister for Refugees, Displaced
Persons and Humanitarian Aid Bratislava Morina received on Tuesday a
delegation of the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees, consisting
of Robert Robertson, Chief of the UNHCR Mission in Croatia, Erikki
Heinonen, Chief of the UNHCR Office in Belgrade, and their associates.
During the talks, the officials discussed the development of the
repatriation campaign aimed to ensure the return of refugees to Croatia. As
both sides believe, the initial results show that more and more people are
willing to return to their homes. Accordingly, it is the duty of the UNHCR,
the international community, and the responsible government institutions of
Croatia and Yugoslavia, to back their attempts.

DELEGATION OF GREEK SOLIDARITY CONVOY VISIT BELGRADE BELGRADE, July 11
(Tanjug) - Serbia's Deputy Minister of Family Care, Dragica Vukadinovic,
with her assistant Dobrila Grujic, received on Tuesday a delegation
representing the Greek Solidarity Convoy of Athens. Earlier this year,
agreements were made with this Greek humanitarian organization, in order to
define ways for delivering humanitarian aid to children who became orphans
or invalids during last year's NATO aggression. Expressing their gratitude
for the warm reception, the guests informed the representatives of the
Ministry that the Greek Solidarity Convoy will be earmarking 50 D-marks'
worth of humanitarian aid per month, for every child who became an orphan
during the aggression, or sustained injuries in the bombing. An interesting
feature of these humanitarian activities is that every child has a donor in
Greece, with whom he or she can establish cooperation, or make a
long-lasting friendship.

KOSOVO-METOHIJA - KFOR U.S. SOLDIER KILLS SEVEN-YEAR-OLD BOY IN KOSOVO AND
METOHIJA NEW YORK, July 11 (Tanjug) - The Pentagon has announced that a
U.S. soldier of the international force KFOR in Serbia's Kosovo and
Metohija province killed a seven-year-old boy on Monday. The Pentagon
alleged the killing had been accidental, that the soldier's weapon had gone
off accidentally. Meanwhile, a KFOR spokesman confirmed in Pristina late on
Monday that an unidentified U.S. soldier had accidentally inflicted mortal
wounds to an ethnic Albanian boy, Gentrid Rexhepi, 7, and that he soon died
of his wounds, agencies reported. The incident occurred near the village of
Cerkes Sadovina, near Vitina, and the boy died after being taken to the
hospital in the U.S. base Bondsteel.

O P I N I O N S WASHINGTON BRUTALLY STIFLED TRUTH ABOUT NATO AGGRESSION NEW
YORK, July 11 (Tanjug) - Corporation media companies in the United States
committed a collective mistake when they failed to resist the propaganda
sown by NATO and the Pentagon in 1999. Key U.S. media companies were
absolutely aware that the Pentagon and NATO were placing unfounded and
false reports about the war in Kosovo and Metohija (the aggression on
Yugoslavia), and yet they continued to present such reports to the U.S.
public as if they were Gospel, said a professor of Sonoma State University
of Rohnert Park, California. Peter Philips said in the introduction to his
book "Censored 2000" that the presented 25 stories by U.S. and other
authors were never published in U.S. or other western media because they
reveal the truth which Washington and controlled U.S. news media are
brutally stifling. Philips said it was no wonder that as many as five of
these reports are about the NATO aggression on Yugoslavia and developments
in the Balkans. The texts throw light on the role of the United States in
the war in Kosovo and Metohija and the entire Balkans, he said. It is clear
from the book that NATO and the Pentagon used media as a military tool for
plying the public with lies.
