The Vietnamese >delegation was led by the permanent deputy prime minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, >and the Lao delegation by deputy prime minister, Boungnang Vorachit. Both >leaders are also presidents of their respective sub-committees of the >commission. The two delegations assessed the implementation of the >co-operation agreement in the first six months of this year, saying that the >bilateral trade relations have unceasingly developed and many aid projects >have been effectively carried out. They also reviewed the implementation of >the '1999 Cua Lo Agreement' on facilitating movement of people and goods of >the two countries across the border. They noted that improvement has been seen >in immigration work, cash settlement, money transfer and tax reduction and >exemption for goods. The two head delegates pointed out measures to continue >the implementation of the co-operation agreements in the second half of this >year, draw up plan for co-operation in 2001-2010 period and the framework >agreement in 2001-2005 period and specific tasks for 2001. The same day >afternoon, the Laos deputy prime minister met Finance Minister Nguyen Sinh >Hung. They exchanged experiences on financial management.
