Mr Mai Thuc Lan, member of the Communist Party Central Committee and vice
chairman of the National Assembly, held a cordial reception to a delegation
of former revolutionary prisoners in Hanoi on September 1.

Mr Lan praised the great contributions of the revolutionary generations to
the struggles for national independence and construction. He said he hoped
the members would continue to contribute to the current national
construction, industrialisation and modernisation.

The delegation, representing tens of thousands of revolutionary soldiers in
21 provinces and cities who were jailed in the two anti-French and US
resistance wars were visiting Hanoi to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh
in his Mausoleum, visit his living and working place and take part in a
cultural exchange with different revolutionary generations on the occasion
of the 55th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day,
September 2.

The delegates remembered the hard time they had experienced through
barbarous torture by their enemies. However, they showed their undaunted
spirit to be firm and consistent to the revolutionary tradition to turn the
prisons into their revolutionary schools. The delegates expressed their
thanks to the care and concern of the Party and State to the people who
have rendered great services to the revolution. They promised to try their
best to make a contribution to the national construction.
