China and his meeting with Jiang
Zemin in May this year were an event of historic significance in further
strengthening the Sino-Korean
relations of friendship and cooperation.
He hoped that the Korean people would make greater success in socialist
construction.

190th anniversary of Mexican independence.
Present there were Kim Jin Bom, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee
for Cultural Relations
with Foreign Countries and chairman of the DPRK-Mexico Friendship

Japan's moves to justify its history of aggression
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- History textbooks of Japanese middle
schools contain
matters distorting and defending its history of crimes committed in Korea
in the past and instilling
aggressive nature into its people, according to Tokyo Shimbun. This was
disclosed at a time when
Japanese middle schools are making applications for the examination of
their history textbooks
according to new school guidance program to begin in the year 2002.
In this connection Rodong Sinmun today says in a signed commentary:
Such undisguised moves of Japan to justify its history of aggression
are reported at a time when the
world is about to greet a new century and the issues of redeeming its past
and establishing diplomatic
relations between the DPRK and Japan are high on their agenda. This,
therefore, can not be construed
otherwise than a very grave and dangerous development.
The "treaties" which Japan claims it had "concluded" with Korea are all
forgeries and fabrications
and products of coercion in contravention of principles governing the
international laws and
requirements of international usage.
They were illegitimate aggressive ones aimed to realise its military
occupation and rule over Korea.
It is illogical to say that they were "needed," "supported" and
"legitimate." Japan's claim is an
unpardonable insult and challenge to the Korean people, a victim, and a
mockery of the public opinion.
Japan's undisguised moves to tamper with history textbooks by adding to
them contents asserting
the legitimacy of the "Korea-Japan annexation treaty" and the validity of
its rule over Korea clearly
reflect the social atmosphere in Japan where militarization and its
preparations for reinvasion are rapidly
stepped up.
The DPRK is closely following the moves of the Japanese militarist
forces to justify its past history
of aggression of Korea.
Peruvian parliament greets DPRK's anniversary
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- The Peruvian parliament adopted a
resolution on Sept. 8
congratulating the DPRK on its 52nd anniversary.
The resolution said:
On the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the DPRK which falls on
Sept. 9 the parliament of the
Republic of Peru extends warmest congratulations and greetings to General
Secretary Kim Jong Il and
all the Korean people and wishes the DPRK development and prosperity in the
fields of politics,
economy and culture.
Korean books presented to Guyana
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- A ceremony of presenting Korean books
was held at
Guyana university on Sept. 6.
George Fung-on, Minister of Public Service of Guyana, in his address
said that having received
valuable Korean books, teachers and students of the university will come to
know well about the Juche
idea founded by President Kim Il Sung and the leadership provided by Kim
Jong Il to bring the Korean
people victory, guided by the idea.
He went on:
The Juche idea fathered by the President teaches that man is the master
of his own destiny and he is
capable of shaping his destiny.
Recently, in Korea there took place such historic events as the meeting
of the leaders of the north
and south and the reunion of separated families and relatives, the first of
its kind in over 50 years,
thanks to Kim Jong Il's patriotic idea and great magnanimity.
The Korean books will greatly help the teachers and students of the
university have deep
understanding of Korea.
Colorful functions held in various countries on DPRK anniversary
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- Lectures and book and photo
exhibitions were held by the
United Party of Struggle of Madagascar, the Peruvian Institution for the
Study of the Revolutionary
Activities of Comrade Kim Jong Suk, the Maritime Territorial Committee of
the Communist Party of the
Russian Federation, San Juan Bautista University of Peru and the Guinean
Social Insurance Company
from Aug. 29 to Sep. 4 on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the
Democratic People's Republic of
Korea.
On display at the book and photo exhibitions were photos and Korean
books including famous
works of the President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
The general secretary of the United Party of Struggle of Madagascar
said at the lecture that the
leader, the party and the masses form socio-political organism firmly
united as one and broad masses are
single-heartedly united around the party and the leader in the DPRK.
U.S. contemptible act condemned
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- Organizations of India and New
Zealand issued statements
separately to condemn the U.S. administration authorities for barring
President Kim Yong Nam of the
presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and his party from
participation in the UN
Millennium Summit.
The Indian Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification in a
statement on Sept. 7 strongly
condemned the provocation of the U.S. administration authorities against
the delegation of the DPRK as
an intolerable insult to the independence of a sovereign state and a grave
challenge to the UN and its
Millennium Summit.
The statement said that although the united states is talking about the
"improved relations" with the
DPRK, it is actually opposed to the independent and peaceful reunification
of Korea and dislikes the
growing external relations of the DPRK.
It expressed full support to the position of the DPRK describing the
U.S. as the largest rogue state
and villainous state ignoring elementary morality.
The New Zealand-Democratic People's Republic of Korea society in a
statement on Sept. 6
dismissed the obstructive act of the U.S. administration authorities
against the DPRK delegation as an
impudent act bereft of common sense and a despicable act beyond protocol
and morality. For this the
U.S. will be protested and condemned by the international community, the
statement said.
Impressions of DPRK published
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are firmly united
around their great
leader. Although Portuguese differ from the Korean people in ideology, they
will show interest in their
experience and learn from it.
Miguel Boieiro, Mayor of Alcochete Municipality, Portugal, said this in
his impressions of the
DPRK published on Sept. 5 after visiting it.
Noting that the political, economic and cultural systems in the DPRK
have something unique rare to
be found in other regions of the world, he said:
Its political system is based on the Juche idea founded by President
Kim Il Sung.
Repatriation of unconverted long-term prisoners welcomed
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- We fully support and warmly welcome
the repatriation of
unconverted long-term prisoners to the DPRK and offer sincere thanks to
leader Kim Jong Il, the sun of
the 21st century, for decorating the 20th century with a history of
revolutionary obligation and warmest
comradeship.
P. C. Sharma, chairman of the International Study Center for
Juche-oriented Mass Media in Nepal,
said this in a statement issued on September 5 hailing the repatriation of
unconverted long-term
prisoners.
It was thanks to the warm love and absolute trust of President Kim Il
Sung and leader Kim Jong Il
that they could remain loyal to their leaders and the fatherland and true
to the idea of socialism and
communism to the last despite all sorts of hardships and trials for over 30
years, even for more than 40
years in prison, emerge as men of strong faith and will and indomitable
fighters and come back into the
care of Kim Jong Il, he said.
He said that they are the great pride not only of the Korean people but
of all peoples of the world
who value justice and peace. He extended full support and solidarity to the
Korean people in their
struggle for the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
Preparatory committees to celebrate 55th anniversary of WPK formed
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- preparatory committees to celebrate
the 55th anniversary of
the Worker's Party of Korea were formed in the czech republic and austria
on September 5 and 7.
At the inaugural meetings, the chairman of the mt. Paektu czech-korean
friendship association and
the chairman of the society for the promotion of the relations between
austria and the DPRK and the
austrian committee for supporting Korea's reunification were elected
chairmen of the preparatory
committees.
The committees decided to conduct colorful activities on the occasion
of the 55th anniversary of the
WPK.
