DEVRIMCI HALK KURTULUS CEPHESI October 2, 2000 Press Statement No 125 US IMPERIALISM AND ISRAELI ZIONISM ARE CONTINUING TO COMMIT MURDER Once again the Palestinian people are being hounded. Forty Palestinians have been murdered and more than a thousand wounded. The number of dead grows with every passing day. Those who are responsible for the slaughter are US imperialism, which has supported all the bloody crimes perpetrated by Israel in the Middle East and which thus places its signature below every drop of blood spilled in the region, as well as the Zionist state, which is usurping land belonging to the Palestinian people. The cruelty of US imperialism and Israeli Zionism is nothing we have not seen them perpetrate before. The original provocation was Ariel Sharon's violation of the Dome of the Rock, which is a sacred place for Muslims. This provocation did not just come out of nowhere: it was committed with the knowledge and approval of the USA and Israel. The USA paved the way by declaring that they would relocate their embassy to Al-Quds (what the Arabs call Jerusalem). Sharon's role was merely to set the seal on this. "MURDERER AMERICA" (in the original Turkish: "KATIL AMERIKA"). These two words describe succinctly and accurately the New World Order and the massacre of the Palestinian people. This massacre is the reply to those who had hopes in the New World Order and who dreamt of constructing a "Middle East peace" with Israel. This massacre is the reply to those who believed in the lie of imperialist democracy and human rights. This massacre is a lesson to those who approved the imperialist Pax Americana. The condemnation of the massacre by the oligarchy in Turkey is an utter falsehood. This is because those responsible for the massacre are the oligarchy's allies of choice. If the state in Turkey is the friend of the Palestinian people, as it claims to be, it must renounce all the accords it concluded with Israel. And of course it will not, for it is an accomplice in all the massacres committed by imperialism in the Middle East. The states in the European Union invoke the "people's will" when it is a case of interfering in the elections in Yugoslavia, and they even violate international law to do so. So where are you, you inveterate defenders of human rights, you friends of the Palestinian people? When US imperialism is behind massacres, why do you cover yourselves in a shroud of silence? And you Islamists, who never miss a chance to damn Zionism - why are you so silent? Are you waiting for the Palestinians to die by the thousand? Despite the artificial peace brokered by imperialism, the treason and the massacres perpetrated by Zionist Israel, the intifada is standing on its feet once again and fighting unceasingly. Nobody can annihilate the resistance of the Palestinian people, nor their aspiration towards a sovereign state. There can be no question of the peoples making peace with US imperialism and Zionism.
