Panafrican News Agency October 5, 2000 Ali Dellali Amman, Jordan Libyan leader, Col. Moammar Kadhafi, and King Abdallah II of Jordan have condemned Israel for what they called the "massacre" of Palestinian people. Kadhafi began a three-day visit to Jordan Wednesday as part an Arab tour that has already taken him to Egypt. Libyan delegation sources said he and the Jordanian monarch reviewed the Arab situation in general and the fresh upsurge of violence in the occupied Arab territories in particular, namely the bloody clashes between Palestinians and Israelis. They condemned "the massacres perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people and the irresponsible acts of provocation in territories under Palestinian authority," the sources added. The two leaders reaffirmed their total support to the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to set up an independent state with its capital in "Al-Qods" (Jerusalem). More than 50 people, mainly Palestinians have been killed in renewed violence in the volatile Middle East region. Kadhafi and King Abdallah II also discussed trade and the promotion of Libyan investments in Jordan. Political issues of interest to the Arab and African regions were also discussed, with the Libyan calling on Arab countries to support the African Union project. Kadhafi is expected to meet with intellectuals and journalists and address the Jordanian Parliament. Relations between Tripoli and Amman have developed remarkably since King Abdallah II came to the throne in 1999. The monarch has visited Libya twice. Kadhafi's Arab tour is essentially aimed at rekindling Afro- Arab co-operation especially in the economic field to tackle the challenges of globalisation. Accompanying him on the tour are the Libyan Minister for African Affairs, Ali Triki and the Director of the Africa Department, Ayad Tayari. _______________________________________________________ KOMINFORM P.O.
