Gift to Kim Jong Il
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a
gift from Shuhachi
Inoue, honorary director general of the International Institute of the
Juche Idea who is visiting the
DPRK, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Worker's Party of Korea.
Shuhachi Inoue conveyed the gift to an official concerned.
Kim Jong Il's work published in Poland
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il's famous
work "the Worker's
Party of Korea Is the Party of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" was
brought out in booklet by
the Cieszyn Printing House in Poland on September 28 on the occasion of the
55th anniversary of the
foundation of the Worker's Party of Korea.
This work was published on October 2, Juche 84 (1995).
Preparatory committee in Pakistan
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- An inaugural meeting of a Pakistan
preparatory committee for
celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Worker's Party of Korea took place
on Sept. 28.
The chairman of the Pakistan socialist party was elected chairman of
the committee at the meeting.
A program of functions was discussed and decided there.
Three-point charter of Korea's reunification supported
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The Khmer Democratic Party of Cambodia
participated in an
international signature campaign supporting the three-point charter of
Korea's reunification on Sept. 27.
The signature paper was signed by chairman of the party Uk Phuri who is
adviser of the royal
government of Cambodia, member of the Lawyers' Council and Professor of
Law, on behalf of over
100,000 party members and supporters.
Foreign embassy officials visit Party Founding Museum
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Officials in charge of cultural and
friendly relations of different
embassies here visited the Party Founding Museum yesterday on the threshold
of the 3rd anniversary of
the great leader Kim Jong Il's election as General Secretary of the
Worker's Party of Korea and the 55th
anniversary of the party.
The visitors looked round relics and materials on display, hearing the
explanation that the President
Kim Il Sung founded the WPK and strengthened and developed it to be an
invincible party.
Taher al Muhdi Arifa, councilor of the people's bureau of the Great
Socialist People's Libyan Arab
Jamahiriya, said the feats President Kim Il Sung performed by founding and
developing the WPK are
being firmly upheld by Kim Jong Il, expressing the belief that the Korean
people would achieve great
successes in socialist construction and the struggle to achieve national
reunification.
Collection of Kim Jong Il's works published in Russia
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Shaher Mohammed Abdlah, Palestinian
ambassador to the
DPRK, yesterday gave a reception on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of
the great leader Kim Jong
Il's election as General Secretary of the Worker's Party of Korea and the
55th anniversary of the party
founding.
Invited to the reception were secretary Choe Thae Bok of the central
committee of the Worker's
Party of Korea and officials concerned.
Praising General Secretary Kim Jong Il for his great feats performed
for the prosperity and
reunification of the Korean nation, the ambassador offered his sincere and
warm congratulations to him,
the WPK and the Korean people.
He expressed the belief that under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il
the Korean people would
achieve greater progress and prosperity and continued victory.
Choe Thae Bok in his speech said that the friendship between the DPRK
and Palestine is a
traditional one the great leader President Kim Il Sung provided in his
lifetime together with the respected
President Yasser Arafat.
The Korean people will make positive efforts to further strengthen and
develop the friendly relations
with the Palestinian people and invariably support their just cause to
restore the legitimate national right.
Collection of Kim Jong Il's works published in Russia
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- A collection of General Secretary Kim
Jong Il's famous works
"For Accomplishment of Socialist Cause" was published by the paleya-mishin
publishing house of
Russia on October 3 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Worker's
Party of Korea.
The collection contains 10 works of Kim Jong Il including "Socialism Is
a Science", "Abuses of
Socialism Are Intolerable" and "Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is
Essential for Accomplishing
Socialism."
Association for study of Juche idea inaugurated in Germany
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- An association for the study of the
Juche idea was inaugurated at
the Communist Party of Germany on Oct. 1 on the occasion of the 55th
anniversary of the Worker's
Party of Korea.
It was stressed at the inaugural meeting that the association was
inaugurated to study and
disseminate the Juche idea and learn experience and achievements made by
the Korean people in
socialist construction.
The chairman of the Niedersachsen state committee of the party was
elected chairman of the
association at the meeting.
A letter to the great leader Kim Jong Il was adopted there.
State commendation to meritorious officials, servicemen and working
people
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- State commendation was awarded to
meritorious officials,
people's army servicemen and working people yesterday on the threshold of
the 55th anniversary of the
Worker's Party of Korea.
Present at the awarding ceremony at the Mansudae Assembly Hall were Kim
Yong Nam, President
of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, and officials concerned.
Titles of Labour Hero with gold medals (hammer and sickle) and National
Flag Order 1st Class
were awarded to 11 persons, Kim Il Sung order to 15 and Kim Il Sung Prize
to one, according to a
decree of the presidium of the SPA which was read out at the ceremony.
And national flag order first class and other orders and medals were
awarded to many officials and
working people.
Magician Kim Thaek Song gives solo show
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Recently, Kim Thaek Song, 67, People's
Artiste, Labour Hero
and well-known magician, gave his solo show at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre.
His conjuring prowess
elicited rousing applause from the audience.
From among his career total of a good 100 pieces, he picked out five
imaginary tricks including "a
mystery box" and "bear and man."
It is common knowledge that magic is an art of producing illusions or
casting spells by sleight of
hand, but when it comes to his performance the audience are left awe-stricken.
The recent performance also included the forte tricks by his sons, Kim
Chol and Kim Kwang Chol,
and four students from the Pyongyang Circus College.
Kim the senior has a special pride in his gorgeous career.
Born of a day laborer before Korea's liberation from Japanese military
rule (August 1945), he made
his acrobatic debut in Juche 51 (1962). He was active as a trapeze actor
with the Korean People's Army
circus.
Two years later he turned to conjuring and applied his mind to ways in
which Korea's conjuring
could be raised up to world standard.
His initial pieces, mainly hand tricks, caught little attention, but
his skill and artistic merit grew
steadily and remarkably. Finally, his perseverance started him on the
incline to international reputation.
He came out on top on a dozen occasion in international festivals in
Austria, the Czech Republic,
China and elsewhere and became a twice winner of grand prize. In the 1981
Monaco Festival, he was
awarded the World King of Magic Title.
He is now working as a magic lecturer at the Pyongyang Circus College.
Japan's naval maneuver under fire
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Japan dispatched submarine "Akishio", a
submarine rescue
mother ship "Chiyoda" and hundreds of military personnel to a 13 day-long
"submarine rescue drill"
that started in waters off Singapore on October 2 with U.S. and other
multi-national naval forces
involved.
Assailing this, Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary says:
This drill of the Japanese Maritime "Self-Defence Force" is an exercise
overseas aimed to expand
Japan's military operation theatre as far as southeast Asia as part of its
preparations for overseas
aggression.
This goes to prove that after adopting the legislation related to the
updated "Japan-U.S. Defence
Cooperation Guidelines" last year and regaining right to participate in a
war and right of belligerency,
Japan has entered the phase of making detailed preparations to put the war
legislation into practice.
By staging the "submarine rescue drill" Japan seeks to study and survey
even the sea bottoms of
southeast Asia and use this region as its military operation theatre.
The Japanese reactionaries do not bother to assert that the "Greater
East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere"
should be expanded worldwide.
The DPRK is the first target of the overseas military operation of the
Japanese reactionaries. The
second Korean war of aggression will be the first theatre for U.S. soldier
searching and rescuing
operation of the Japanese "Self-Defence Forces" which was stipulated in the
"Japan-U.S. Defence
Cooperation Guidelines."
The operation for logistic supply and rescue of the U.S. Army are no
more than a smokescreen to
cover up Japan's entry to the Korean war of aggression.
It is the true intention of the Japanese reactionaries to realise its
ambition to reinvade Korea by
hurling its "SDF" into the forefront in case of the outbreak of a new
Korean war.
Colorful events to mark October jubilee
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Colorful celebrations are now going on
in Pyongyang on the
threshold of the 55th anniversary of the Worker's Party of Korea.
Thursday witnessed a national oratorical contest and a performance
given by itinerant art
propaganda troupes of factories and enterprises from across the country.
Present at the national oratorical contest were Choe Thae Bok,
secretary of the WPK Central
Committee, and Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the presidium of the
Supreme People's Assembly,
and others.
The contest brought together officials and working people who were
highly appreciated at contests
held in provincial seats and in Pyongyang participated in by 4,000 people
from across the country.
In their presentations titled "Comrade Kim Jong Il is the sun of all
people" and "the WPK whose
membership is an integral whole", etc. Participants reflected the great
national pride and self-confidence
of the Korean people who are building a powerful socialist nation on this
land under the tested
leadership of the glorious WPK through dynamic agitation, attraction and
strong appeal.
The performance given by itinerant art propaganda troupes of factories
and enterprises from across
the country truthfully represented the immortal feats of the President Kim
Il Sung and General Secretary
Kim Jong Il and the happy worthy life the Korean people enjoy under the
care of the WPK.
An oratorical contest of agricultural workers from across the country
also took place that day to
commemorate the 3rd anniversary of Kim Jong Il's election as General
Secretary of the WPK and the
55th anniversary of the WPK.
National symposium on Juche idea in Guyana
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The 21st Guyanese national symposium on
the Juche idea was
held in Georgetown on October 1 on the occasion of the third anniversary of
the great leader Kim Jong
Il's election as General Secretary of the Worker's Party of Korea and the
55th anniversary of the WPK
foundation.
Present there were the Minister of Public Service of Guyana and
officials of political parties and
organizations.
The chairman of the Guyanese National Committee for the Study of the
Juche Idea of Comrade Kim
Il Sung in his report expressed greatest respect for President Kim Il Sung
who founded the Juche idea
and performed immortal exploits in the era and history and extended
greatest glory to General Secretary
Kim Jong Il who has steadily developed the Juche idea in depth to indicate
the road ahead of the struggle
for independence of the popular masses.
He said that the Juche idea indicates the most clearcut way of
achieving progress and prosperity of
the country with united efforts and it is the most scientific doctrine that
humankind should uphold in the
21st century.
A letter to Kim Jong Il and a resolution were adopted at the symposium.
The resolution said that the national committee, regarding the Juche
idea as a steadfast guiding idea
of life and struggle, would conduct positive activities to study and
disseminate the idea among broad
segments of people.
It expressed full support to the Korean people in their struggle to
smash all moves of the
imperialists and reactionaries to isolate and stifle socialist Korea, build
a powerful socialist country of
Juche and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
Guarantee for building new independent world
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- It is a sure guarantee for building a
new independent world to set
store by international justice and remain faithful to it, says Rodong
Sinmun today in a signed article.
It goes on:
Progressive mankind can neither live nor attain their ultimate goal
without a struggle for justice.
What is urgently required by the people struggling for the independent
development and prosperity
of the country and global independence is a peaceful environment and fair
international relations and
order.
As long as aggression and war and relations of inequality persist, no
country can ever successfully
build a new independent society nor is it possible to establish relations
of harmony among countries and
realise the ideal of humankind.
Healthy international relations and new fair international order would
have been unthinkable without
the principle of justice.
The principle of justice serves as a common cord of conduct to lead and
encourage all countries to
destroy the old international order based on dominationism and establish a
new fair international order.
What is important in firmly upholding and developing international
justice is to respect the
sovereignty of the countries and strictly observe the generally accepted
norms and principles of
international relations.
New book printed
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Book "Among the People" vol. 60 came off
the press at the
Worker's Party of Korea Publishing House on the occasion of the 55th
anniversary of the WPK.
The book "Among the People" is a collection of reminiscences of the
wise leadership and noble
virtue of the President Kim Il Sung who devoted his all to the people,
believing in them as in heaven.
The newly published book contains 22 reminiscences.
Among them are "Done As the First Work After his Triumphant Return
Home" and "Story To Be
Conveyed Long Together with the Party Founding Museum" and others telling
about the tireless
activities conducted by Kim Il Sung to accomplish the historic cause of
founding the Worker's Party of
Korea right after the country's liberation.
WPK praised as great guide of socialist cause of Juche
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The Worker's Party of Korea is a great
party that is fully
demonstrating the revolutionary leadership ability in triumphantly pushing
and carrying out the socialist
cause of Juche says, Minju Joson today in a signed article.
The article says:
The WPK leadership is vital to Korean style socialism.
The great leadership of the WPK over the socialist cause of Juche finds
expression in building up
the driving force of socialism and enhancing its role immensely. It is also
manifested in setting forth
correct fighting strategies and tactics and implementing them, consistently
maintaining the revolutionary
principle in socialist construction and strictly applying it.
The WPK leadership is vital to the socialist cause as it provides
independent driving force,
strategies and tactics of revolution and revolutionary principle. It serves
as a powerful engine for steady
advance and gives a decisive guarantee for success and victory.
The WPK's great guidance precisely represents the respected Kim Jong
Il's great idea of party
building and his leadership over it.
The WPK enjoys absolute support and trust from the people and is
confidently leading the socialist
cause of Juche as a dignified and invincible revolutionary party. This is a
shining fruition of Kim Jong
Il's outstanding and unique idea and theory of party building and his
extraordinary dynamic leadership.
It is his greatest and noblest feat in the party building that he
enabled the WPK to remain an eternal
party of the great leader Kim Il Sung.

headquarters for socialist

Meeting held to commemorate 20th anniversary of proposal for founding
DFRK
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- A meeting of Pyongyangites was held here
today to
commemorate the 20th anniversary of the proposal for founding the
Democratic Federal Republic of
Koryo (DFRK).
The proposal was advanced by the President Kim Il Sung in October Juche
69 (1980).
The keynote of the proposal is to reunify the country by founding a
federal republic through the
establishment of a unified national government on condition that the north
and the south recognize and
tolerate each other's ideas and systems, a government in which the two
sides are represented on an equal
footing and under which they exercise regional autonomy with equal rights
and duties.
An Kyong Ho, director of the secretariat of the Committee for the
Peaceful Reunification of the
Fatherland, in his report said that following the advancement of the
proposal the people's desire for
national reunification rapidly mounted throughout Korea.
Noting that Kim Il Sung made tireless efforts all his life for the
country's reunification, he called
upon the entire nation to realize the proposal for founding the DFRK at any
cost, true to his last
instruction.
This is being successfully put into practice by the respected leader
Kim Jong Il, he said, adding that
Kim Jong Il formulated the three principles of national reunification, the
10-point program of the great
unity of the entire nation and the proposal for founding the DFRK as the
three-point charter of national
reunification.
He continued:
The prospect of national reunification based on the proposal to found
the DFRK is becoming
brighter following the Pyongyang meeting and the publication of the
north-south joint declaration.
The north and the south recognized that the north side's proposal for
low-level federation and the
south side's proposal for confederation have things in common in the ways
of achieving reunification
and agreed to work for reunification in this direction. This is one of the
first signal success achieved by
both sides in seeking ways of reunification since the division of the
country and the nation.
It is the unshakable will of all the fellow countrymen to achieve the
cause of national reunification in
the coming few years by the concerted efforts of the nation.
The day is sure to come when all the Koreans in the north, south and
abroad will live together in
harmony in a reunified homeland, he said.
