Vietnam respects Yugoslavian people's right to self-determination:

"Vietnam respects the right of the Yugoslavian people to self-determination."

So said a spokesperson for the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry on October 6,
while answering questions from foreign correspondents about Vietnam's
comments on the latest developments in Yugoslavia.

The spokeswoman, Phan Thuy Thanh, noted that the issue was an internal
affair for Yugoslavia.

She continued: "We protest against outside interference into the internal
affairs of the Federation of Yugoslavia, for this interference will further
complicate the situation." (VNA)

                  Party chief attends local Party Congress

 Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu attended the 21st Party Congress of
 Ninh Giang district in Hai Duong province on October 6.

 The Party leader praised the Party Committee and people of Ninh Giang for
 their efforts in the past five years, which have made great positive
 changes in socio-economy and in Party building. He also spoke highly of
 the careful preparations of Party members in Ninh Giang district for this
 congress which were proved through the political report and the six
 speeches presented at the congress.

 The Party chief asked the delegates to discuss thoroughly the strength
 and weaknesses in the previous term, thus drawing experience for the next
 term. He also asked that the work of building the Party, preserving
 social order and implementing democracy at the grassroots level should be
 well carried out, thus increasing the people's trust in the Party.

 Mr Phieu, on this occasion, visited the Military Zone 3's Engineer
 Brigade 513, which has been presented with the People's Armed Forces Hero
 title twice and the Kim Bang cultural village in Nam Sach district. Here,
 he visited and presented gifts to Heroic Mother Bui Thi Chiem and had a
 meeting with the local people of Kim Bang.
