SLOBODAN MILOSEVIC ADRESSES THE NATION

BELGRADE, October 3, 2000 (Blic)
Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic the nation lastnight via
Serbian radio and television. He accused DOS that it worked by the
orders of the West. He claimed that in case of victory of DOS
presidential candidate, the country would be disintegrated and
without identity. Addressing public opinion via television, Milosevic
said that Serbia had its laws. "It is Serbia's duty to defend itself
from invasion prepared against it through various forms of
subversion". In speech that lasted almost 18 minutes, he said he was
addressing the citizens "in the wake of the second election round"
and that the motive was not of "personal nature". "I thought it was
my duty to warn of the consequences of the activities financed and
supported by NATO governments. Citizens may believe me, and they may
not. My wish is that they do not assure themselves about my warnings
too late, when the wrong done cannot be corrected", Milosevic said.
He reminded that he had been elected President of Serbia twice and
President of Yugoslavia once. "It should be clear to everyone that
they are not attacking Serbia because of Milosevic, but Milosevic
because of Serbia".
"My conscience is at peace as far as that matter is concerned,
but it would not be the case had I not warned my people about the
future my people is going to have if that future is chosen by someone
else. That wrong belief that people choose by themselves while
actually somebody else is making the choice, is very dangerous and is
the main reason for my public addressing. The last events in
Yugoslavia resulting from Sept. 24 elections are part of pursuit
against Yugoslavia, the only country that is a barrier for
establishment of complete domination in the Balkans. Establishment of
power installed by NATO countries would disintegrate the territory of
Yugoslavia disintegrated soon. That is not only NATO's intention, but
DOS's promise, too. Serbian people would find themselves the position
of the Kurds with the prospective to be exterminated much quicker
since Serbian nation is smaller and the room for moving of it would
be considerably smaller. Montenegro would be given to Mafia. People
know the rules of Mafia very well. The real DOS chief is not
presidential candidate, but a man known for his appeal to NATO to
bomb Serbia for as more weeks as necessary to have its resistance
broken".
