Vietnam, Ukraine co-operate in energy Vietnam and Ukraine will co-operate in developing new energy sources, according to co-operation programme between the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Ukrainian Ministry of Energy. According to this programme, Ukraine will supply equipment and send experts to build small and medium sized hydroelectric power plants having capacity below 200 megawatts in Vietnam under a barter system. The Ukrainian party will also set up a joint venture with Vietnamese Electricity Corporation to produce porcelain and glass insulators and will co-operate in building small and medium sized hydroelectric plants and transmission lines for Lao Cai province and Cambodia. In the past year, Ukraine designed and supplied complete equipment for four generator units at the Yaly hydroelectric power plant and supplied equipment and trained Vietnamese technicians to repair 66 kilovolts, 110 kilovolts, 220 kilovolts and 500 kilovolts transmission lines. It also started doing research on the rehabilitation of Viet Tri electricity supply system and joined in the bid for the building of the 500 kilovolt power lines linking Pleiku to Phu Lam and the Se San hydroelectric power plant.
