The Leader of the Greek Communist Party leaves from Palestine
An agreement over new solidarity steps
                      ____________________________

The Secretary General of the Greek Communist Party Alexandra Paparika
and the accompanying delegation departed from the Palestinian
territories returning to Greece after ending a visit in solidarity with
the Palestinian people and their Intifada; the visit lasted five days
upon an invitation by the Palestinian People's Party.

In the last meeting held between the Greek delegation and the
Palestinian People's Party delegation, headed by member of the
Secretariat General of the Party Hanna Amira, Paparika affirmed that she
would meet with the Greek Foreign Minister and inform him about the
realities and events in the Palestinian territories and in order to
demand the provision of support to the Palestinian people and that
Greece would act at the European level to stop the continuos aggression
against the Palestinian people.

The Secretary General of the Greek Party promised to work on urging the
representatives of parties and forces in Greece and in Europe to
organize solidarity visit with the Palestinian people and against the
Israeli aggression. She stressed that she was deeply touched by what she
had seen and experienced during her visit.

Paparika also had a meeting with President Abu Ammar in Gaza, in
addition to meetings with the various Palestinian factions, parties and
forces.

Through our unit we can share the burdens and
Confront the shelling and the siege

Members of our Brave People:

At these critical days, as our dignified Palestinian people continue
offering more and more martyrs who are the sacrifices of freedom; on
these days that our unarmed masses confront the occupation armies fully
equipped with weapons of death and destruction, including missiles of
military helicopters and the guns of tanks in an attempt to force our
brave people to yield to the Israeli-US policies of dictations. The
sniping and deliberate acts of killing continue against the children,
youth and old people, and the criminal raids at Fateh headquarters in
Gaza, Ramallah and Nablus and at inhabited houses where Palestinians are
now deprived of any secure or safe life in their domiciles.

Nowadays, the heroism and sacrifice in the confrontations with the
occupation troops must be accompanied by acts of real national unity and
harmony to the point of sharing the loaf of bread in order to secure the
steadfastness and bear the burdens of the national battle. The enemy has
accompanied its siege with killing and destruction, which caused the
gravest damage to the national economy; they deprived more than 100,000
laborers from work inside the Green Line; they also banned the entry of
raw material needed for the local industries.

We appeal to the Palestinian businessmen and owners of firms and
institutions to take into consideration the emergency circumstances and
bear their share of the burden in the battle of steadfastness;
therefore, we appeal to them to stop the steps of discharging the
workers and employees, which means an additional number of needy
families who are suffering.

We also appeal to the political parties and factions, municipalities,
chambers of commerce, trade unions, women organizations and NGOs to
initiate the formation of Committees of Aid and Steadfastness at every
city and village and refugee camp towards setting up an emergency
program to employ workers and gather donations and form national
societal support funds to take care of families of martyrs, injured and
prisoners who made very costly sacrifices defending the homeland.

The comprehensive Zionist aggression requires from us as leadership and
people a major preparation and reordering of our internal home and the
daily lives and unity for a long period of time. This requires
reinforcement of the democratic content of the Intifada and the
principle of popular participation and the securing the minimum level of
social justice. Therefore, we call for setting up a comprehensive plan
to tackle all economic, social and administrative misunderstandings and
distribute the burdens in a fair manner to alleviate the suffering of
the Palestinian people caused by the occupation, in addition to the
formation of popular committees, such as the popular protection
committee and the emergency committees and the committees to pick up
olives and the social support committees at all sites and among all
social and popular sectors towards reinforcing the role of the masses in
the Intifada.

The Palestinian People's Party condemns the US Congress Decision

The recent decision of the US Senate affirms once again the US bias
towards the Israeli aggressive policies against the Palestinian people
and their encouragement towards the enforcement of collective punishment
against an unarmed people and towards the halting of the popular
Intifada.

The decision came as a new US support to the policies of denying the
international legitimacy resolutions that are exercised by the Israeli
government and a driving force towards the continuation of these
policies that reject the abidance by the international legitimacy
resolutions.

We renew our appeal towards breaking the US monopoly on the peace
process and towards seeking a broad international framework to supervise
the negotiations and offer the necessary guarantees towards implementing
the international legitimacy resolutions, mainly those pertaining to the
right of return of refugees and the securing of the Palestinian people's
rights in self-determination and the establishment of the independent
and sovereign Palestinian state on their liberated lands with Arab
Jerusalem as its capital.

We affirm that the continuation of the popular Intifada based on Arab
solidarity will lead to the frustration of the decision of the US Senate
and all decisions against our people.

Party October 26, 2000
