Vietnam values fostering friendship and co-operation with China: Party leader The Party, State and people of Vietnam have always attached importance to fostering the Vietnam-China traditional friendship and co-operation in the interest of each country, and for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress, Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu affirmed. He was speaking while receiving on a delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) yesterday led by Dai Bingguo, member of the CPC Central Committee and head of its International Liaison Department, now on a visit to Vietnam. Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu warmly welcomed the Chinese Party delegation's visit which took place at a time when the cause of socialist construction was obtaining great achievements. He said the relations between the two countries have seen fine steps of development and would be raised to a new height in the 21st century. General Secretary Le Kha Phieu asked the delegation to convey his best regards to Party General Secretary and State President Jiang Zemin and other Chinese leaders. For his part, Dai Bingguo expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam and witnessing rapid and big changes in the country during the national renovation, industrialisation and modernisation. He said he believed the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, would gain greater achievements in the cause of socialist construction and that he would do his best to further contribute to promoting the friendship and co-operation between the Parties, States and peoples of the two countries. This afternoon Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh presented Vietnam's 'Friendship Order' to Dai Bingguo at a ceremony held by the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, in recognition of his active contributions to strengthening the traditional friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and China. Prominent among those present at the ceremony were Nguyen Van Son, member of the CPV Central Committee and Director of the Commission for External Relations, and Nguyen Canh Dinh, member of the CPV Central Committee, director of the Presidential Office and President of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association. The same day, the Chinese Party delegation held talks with a delegation of the CPV Central Committee led by Nguyen Van Son. The two sides briefed each other of the situation of their respective Parties and countries and praised the fine development of the Vietnam-China relations, describing it as a result of the determination and efforts by both sides to bring their ties to a new height. They discussed measures to further promote the co-operation between the two Parties in the coming period and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. (VNA) **** Party leader highlights importance of Vietnam-China socialism seminar The Vietnam-China seminar on socialism was an important activity of the two countries' social scientists, said Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu. The Vietnamese Party leader was speaking about the role of theoretical research and summing up of experience in building socialism during his November 11 reception of Chinese senior officials who were attending the two-day seminar entitled 'Socialism: the Vietnam and China experience' which ended in Hanoi on November 11. The Chinese delegation was led by Li Tieying, Politburo member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Social Science Academy. He described the seminar as a necessity and a practical co-operation to contribute to solving issues relating to theory and reality, and accelerating the successful building of socialism in each country. The Party leader pointed to the need to enhance the exchange of experiences between the two countries' social scientists in the new circumstance. He assured his guests of Vietnam's persistent policy to attach importance to consolidating and strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation with China. Party General Secretary Phieu asked the Chinese delegation to convey his best regards to Chinese Party General Secretary and President Jiang Zemin and other Chinese leaders. Li Tieying briefed the Party leader of the fine results of the seminar, saying that valuable lessons drawn from the seminar would accelerate the open-door reform and renovation process in China and Vietnam, thus helping settle socialism related theoretical and practical issues. He expressed his appreciation of Vietnam's achievements in the renovation process and said he believed that the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, would gain greater achievements. He also expressed his confidence in the ever lasting relations of the two countries along the principles of "neighbourly friendship, comprehensive co-operation, long-term stability, and future-oriented thinking" which were defined by Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu and his Chinese counterpart Jiang Zemin. (VNA) **** Vietnam stands side-by-side with Cuba National Assembly Deputy Chairwoman and Party Central Committee member Truong My Hoa has assured the Cuban people that Vietnam has been standing side-by-side with Cuba. Addressing the opening ceremony of the second 'World Solidarity with Cuba' meeting in the Cuban capital of Havana on November 10, Ms Hoa also highlighted the fine sentiments granted to each other by Vietnam and Cuba. She expressed the Vietnamese Party, government and people's gratitude to the Cuban Party, government and people for their wholehearted assistance given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and in the current socialist construction. Ms Hoa, at the head of the Vietnamese Party and State delegation to the world meeting lasting until November 14, reaffirmed the unchanged solidarity given by the Vietnamese people to the fraternal Cuban people. She stressed that the US outdated policy on imposing embargo on Cuba has violated the fundamental principles of international relations and Cuban people's national independence and sovereignty. Vietnamese delegates will join more than 3,600 others from 126 countries in discussing issues relating to the embargo against Cuba, information and information distortion, and solidarity activities.
